USAOMMCS, Redstone Arsenal, AL 35897-6100).<br />

(7) A U.S. citizen.<br />

10–80. 24M—VULCAN System Mechanic (VULCAN Sys<br />

Mech), CMF 23 (Closed to women - see chapter 13)<br />

a. Major duties. The VULCAN system mechanic supervises <strong>and</strong><br />

performs unit level maintenance on the VULCAN weapon system<br />

<strong>and</strong> associated equipment. Duties for MOS 24M at each skill level<br />

are:<br />

(1) MOSC 24M1O. Performs unit level maintenance on the VUL-<br />

CAN weapon system, range-only radar, <strong>and</strong> associated equipment.<br />

Troubleshoots, performs scheduled maintenance, checks, tests, adjusts,<br />

<strong>and</strong> isolates malfunctions on components of the VULCAN<br />

weapon system <strong>and</strong> associated subsystems. Performs maintenance<br />

on unit test, measurement, <strong>and</strong> diagnostics equipment.<br />

(2) MOSC 24M2O. Performs duties in preceding skill level, supervises<br />

lower grade soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to the<br />

soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Initiates requests for<br />

repair parts. Provides technical assistance <strong>and</strong> guidance in the conduct<br />

of operational <strong>and</strong> maintenance inspections.<br />

(3) MOSC 24M3O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises<br />

lower grade soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to the<br />

soldiers in theaccomplishment of their duties. Supervises the training<br />

of maintenance personnel. Instructs maintenance personnel in<br />

maintenance procedures <strong>and</strong> troubleshooting techniques. Maintains<br />

forms for scheduled maintenance of VULCAN system <strong>and</strong> test<br />

equipment.<br />

(4) MOSC 24M4O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises<br />

lower grade soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to the<br />

soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Establishes mainten<br />

weapon system <strong>and</strong> associated equipment. Coordinates maintenance<br />

activities with supporting units. Supervises the requisitioning <strong>and</strong><br />

stockage of supplies <strong>and</strong> repair parts.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications for initial award of<br />

M O S . V U L C A N s y s t e m m e c h a n i c s m u s t p o s s e s s t h e f o l l o w i n g<br />

qualifications:<br />

(1) A physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating of very heavy.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 222221.<br />

(3) Normal color vision.<br />

(4) A minimum score of 110 in aptitude area EL.<br />

(5) A security clearance of CONFIDENTIAL.<br />

(6) M<strong>and</strong>atory formal training (or waiver issued by Comm<strong>and</strong>ant,<br />

USAADS, Fort Bliss, TX 79916).<br />

(7) A U.S. citizen.<br />

<strong>and</strong> performs unit level maintenance on the CHAPPARRAL missile<br />

system system <strong>and</strong> associated equipment. Duties for MOS 24N at<br />

each skill level are:<br />

( 1 ) M O S C 2 4 N 1 O . P e r f o r m s u n i t l e v e l m a i n t e n a n c e o n t h e<br />

CHAPARRAL weapons system <strong>and</strong> associated equipment to include<br />

CHAPARRAL missiles <strong>and</strong> identification, friend or foe (IFF) equipment.<br />

Services <strong>and</strong> performs scheduled unit level maintenance on<br />

components of the CHAPARRAL launching station <strong>and</strong> associated<br />

s u b s y s t e m s .<br />

missiles. Checks, troubleshoots, adjusts <strong>and</strong> repairs the CHAPAR-<br />

RAL weapon system <strong>and</strong> associated equipment at unit level. Installs<br />

authorized equipment <strong>and</strong> performs operator maintenance on assigned<br />

individual <strong>and</strong> section TOE equipment.<br />

(2) MOSC 24N2O. Performs duties in preceding skill level, supervises<br />

lower grade soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to the<br />

soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Provides technical<br />

assistance <strong>and</strong> guidance inthe conduct of operational <strong>and</strong> maintenance<br />

inspections <strong>and</strong> in operator maintenance training. Assists in<br />

maintaining equipment records <strong>and</strong> repair lists. Performs advanced<br />

troubleshooting using system theory <strong>and</strong> schematic interpretation.<br />

(3) MOSC 24N3O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises<br />

lower grade soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to the<br />

soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Supervises maintenance<br />

training to includecollective <strong>and</strong> shared tasks for the CHAP-<br />

ARRAL weapon system <strong>and</strong> associated equipment. Prepares repair<br />

parts requests <strong>and</strong> modification work orders. Implements calibration<br />

support system.<br />

(4) MOSC 24N4O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises<br />

lower grade soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to the<br />

soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Coordinates activities<br />

with supportingmaintenance units. Supervises maintenance management<br />

program. Trains CHAPARRAL personnel on storage, maintenance,<br />

<strong>and</strong> security of accountable property. Conducts technical<br />

i n s p e c t i o n s o n C H A P A R R A L w e a p o n s y s t e m a n d a s s o c i a t e d<br />

equipment.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications for initial award of<br />

MOS. CHAPARRAL systems mechanics must possess the following<br />

qualifications:<br />

(1) A physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating of moderately heavy.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 222221.<br />

(3) Normal color vision.<br />

(4) A minimum score of 110 in aptitude area EL.<br />

(5) A security clearance of CONFIDENTIAL.<br />

(6) M<strong>and</strong>atory formal training (or waiver issued by Comm<strong>and</strong>ant,<br />

USAADS, Ft Bliss, TX 79916).<br />
