Performs operator maintenance on turret, weapons, controls, <strong>and</strong><br />

communications equipment. Assists in performance of unit maintenance<br />

of turret components. Performs preventative maintenance checks<br />

<strong>and</strong> services on tank chassis <strong>and</strong> automotive components before,<br />

during <strong>and</strong> after use. Prepares DA Form 2404 (Equipment Inspection<br />

<strong>and</strong> Maintenance Worksheet) <strong>and</strong> maintains vehicle equipment<br />

folder. Assists in performance of recovery operations. Prepares tank<br />

for operations under various weather conditions <strong>and</strong> for night vision<br />

operations. Assists in construction of fortification <strong>and</strong> barriers, including<br />

minefields. Assists breaching <strong>and</strong> clearing minefields <strong>and</strong><br />

obstacles.<br />

(2) MOSC 19K2O. Performs primary duties as gunner <strong>and</strong> secondary<br />

duties as Tank Comm<strong>and</strong>er. Also performs duties shown in<br />

preceding level of skill <strong>and</strong> supervises subordinate personnel in<br />

performance of these duties. Prepares sketch <strong>and</strong> range cards. Operates<br />

main gun controls <strong>and</strong> firing controls. Adjusts fire. Fires main<br />

gun. Prepares radio equipment for operation <strong>and</strong> enters net. Operates<br />

i n t e r n a l c o m m u n i c a t i o n e q u i p m e n t . A s s i s t s t a n k c o m m a n d e r i n<br />

training tank crew. Prepares, files, <strong>and</strong> distributes operations maps,<br />

situation maps, <strong>and</strong> overlays. Reads <strong>and</strong> interprets maps <strong>and</strong> aerial<br />

photographs. Records information on maps <strong>and</strong> overlays. Indicates<br />

location, strength, tactical deployment, <strong>and</strong> emplacement of friendly<br />

<strong>and</strong> enemy units. Marks vehicle routes on maps <strong>and</strong> overlays. Reproduces,<br />

distributes, <strong>and</strong> files operations orders <strong>and</strong> plans. Inspects<br />

tank turret <strong>and</strong> automotive components for malfunctions. Assists in<br />

the performance of unit maintenance of automotive components.<br />

Assists in maintaining the gunnery proficiency of subordinate gunners<br />

<strong>and</strong> loaders. Supervises ammunition resupply operations to<br />

include request, receipt, storage, inspection, <strong>and</strong> issue of ammunition<br />

within armor units.<br />

(3) MOSC 19K3O. Performs duties as tank comm<strong>and</strong>er. Directs<br />

deployment of personnel <strong>and</strong> tank in combat operations <strong>and</strong> training<br />

exercises. Evaluates terrain <strong>and</strong> selected routes, areas, <strong>and</strong> firing<br />

positions. Identifies <strong>and</strong> selects targets. Issues fire comm<strong>and</strong>s. Directs<br />

fire of tank weapons. Supervises training of tank crew. Conducts<br />

battle drills. Requests, observes, <strong>and</strong> adjusts supporting fire.<br />

Responds to direction from platoon leader. Coordinates action of<br />

tank with platoon <strong>and</strong> supporting elements. Plans movement routes.<br />

Supervises crew operator maintenance. Coordinates requirements for<br />

unit maintenance. Supervises camouflage of equipment. Evaluates<br />

work performance of subordinate crewmembers. Ensures collection<br />

<strong>and</strong> proper reporting of intelligence data to unit <strong>and</strong> responsible staff<br />

sections. Supervises operation of support platoon class III/V squads.<br />

(4) MOSC 19K4O. Performs duties as a tank PSG. Assists in<br />

planning, organization, direction, training, supervision, coordination,<br />

<strong>and</strong> reporting activities of tank platoon or staff section. Supervises<br />

platoon maintenance activities. Directs distribution of fire <strong>and</strong> assigns<br />

fields of fire. Collects, evaluates, <strong>and</strong> assists in interpretation<br />

<strong>and</strong> dissemination of combat information. Directs platoon tactical<br />

movement. Directs movement to contact, hasty attack, <strong>and</strong> defense<br />

at platoon level. Coordinates platoon resupply operations. Supervises<br />

the employment of OPSEC measures. Coordinates the evacuation<br />

of casualties.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications for initial award of<br />

MOS. M1 armor crewmen must possess the following qualifications:<br />

(1) A physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating of very heavy.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 111121.<br />

(3) Correctable vision of 20/20 in one eye <strong>and</strong> 20/100 in other<br />

eye.<br />

(4) Normal color vision.<br />

(5) A maximum height of 6 feet, 1 inch.<br />

(6) A minimum score of 90 in aptitude area CO.<br />

(7) Formal training (completion of MOS 19K course conducted<br />

under the auspices of U.S. <strong>Army</strong> Armor School) m<strong>and</strong>atory.<br />

(8) The highest rank an individual may reclassify into MOS 19K<br />

is rank of SGT.<br />

a. Major duties. The armor senior sergeant serves as principal<br />

NCO in armor company, cavalry troop, or operations <strong>and</strong> intelligence<br />

staff sections in armor battalion, cavalry squadron, or higher<br />

level organizations. Plans, coordinates, <strong>and</strong> supervises activities pertaining<br />

to organization, training, combat operations, <strong>and</strong> combat<br />

intelligence. Supervises operations center at battalion <strong>and</strong> higher<br />

level units. Collects, interprets, analyzes, evaluates, <strong>and</strong> disseminates<br />

intelligence information <strong>and</strong> data. Edits <strong>and</strong> prepares tactical<br />

operations plans <strong>and</strong> orders. Coordinates implementation of operations,<br />

training programs, <strong>and</strong> communications activities.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications for initial award of<br />

MOS. Armor senior sergeants, 19Z5O, must possess the following<br />

qualifications:<br />

(1) Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating—N/A.<br />

10–77. 23R—HAWK Missile System Mechanic (HAWK Msl<br />

Sys Mech) (Reserve Components), CMF 14<br />

a. Major duties. The HAWK missile system mechanic supervises<br />

or performs unit level maintenance on the HAWK missile system<br />

<strong>and</strong> its associated equipment. Duties for MOS 23R at each skill<br />

level are:<br />

( 1 ) M O S C 2 3 R 1 O . P e r f o r m s u n i t l e v e l m a i n t e n a n c e o n t h e<br />

HAWK missile system <strong>and</strong> its associated equipment. Assists operators<br />

in march order <strong>and</strong> emplacement of equipment.<br />

(2) MOSC 23R2O. Performs duties in preceding skill level, supervises<br />

lower grade soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to the<br />

soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Provides technical<br />

assistance in orientation <strong>and</strong> alignment, conduct of operational <strong>and</strong><br />

maintenance inspections, <strong>and</strong> march order <strong>and</strong> emplacement of the<br />

HAWK system. Initiates requests for repair parts, tools, test equipment<br />

<strong>and</strong> other supplies.<br />

(3) MOSC 23R3O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises<br />

lower grade soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to the<br />

soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Enforces safety procedures<br />

<strong>and</strong> st<strong>and</strong>ards. Conducts training programs for maintenance
