Sgt), CMF 18 (Closed to women - see chapter 13)<br />

a. Major duties. Employs conventional <strong>and</strong> unconventional warfare<br />

tactics <strong>and</strong> techniques in providing medical care <strong>and</strong> treatment.<br />

Duties for MOS 18D at each level of skill are:<br />

(1) MOSC 18D3O. Performs <strong>and</strong> maintains proficiency in all<br />

major duties. Ensures detachment medical preparation <strong>and</strong> maintains<br />

medical equipment <strong>and</strong> supplies, provides examination <strong>and</strong> care to<br />

detachment members <strong>and</strong> establishes temporary, fixed <strong>and</strong> unconventional<br />

warfare medical facilities to support operations with emergency,<br />

routine, <strong>and</strong> long term medical care. Provides initial medical<br />

screening <strong>and</strong> evaluation of allied <strong>and</strong> indigenous personnel. Manages<br />

detachment, allied, or indigenous patient’s, administration, adm<br />

i s s i o n a n d d i s c h a r g e , c a r e , l a b o r a t o r y a n d p h a r m a c o l o g i c<br />

requirements <strong>and</strong> the initiation, maintenance <strong>and</strong> transfer of records.<br />

Orders, stores, catalogs, safeguards <strong>and</strong> distributes medical supplies,<br />

equipment <strong>and</strong> pharmaceutical. Supervises medical care <strong>and</strong> treatment<br />

during split detachment missions. Operates a combat laboratory<br />

<strong>and</strong> treats emergency <strong>and</strong> trauma patients in accordance with<br />

established surgical principles. Diagnoses <strong>and</strong> treats various medical<br />

dermatologic, pediatric, infectious <strong>and</strong> obstetric conditions using<br />

a p p r o p r i a t e m e d i c a t i o n s , i n t r a v e n o u s f l u i d s u p p o r t a n d p h y s i c a l<br />

measures. Develops <strong>and</strong> provides medical intelligence as required.<br />

(2) MOSC 18D4O. Performs all duties of preceding skill level.<br />

Supervises <strong>and</strong> manages field medical activities in a conventional or<br />

unconventional warfare environment. Advises <strong>and</strong> provides tactical<br />

<strong>and</strong> technical guidance to the Detachment Comm<strong>and</strong>er, indigenous<br />

<strong>and</strong> allied personnel. Responsible for the planning, execution <strong>and</strong><br />

supervision of cross training of detachment members in medical<br />

skills. In unconventional warfare environment, instructs medical personnel,<br />

manages guerilla hospitals <strong>and</strong> field evacuation nets; coordinates<br />

the operation, interaction <strong>and</strong> activities of medical facilities<br />

within an area of operation; manages battalion size troop medical<br />

clinic <strong>and</strong> its administrative <strong>and</strong> logistical support. Establishes a<br />

base stock of medical supplies <strong>and</strong> equipment, internal or external<br />

procurement, storage, security <strong>and</strong> distribution of those items. Coordinates<br />

veterinary training <strong>and</strong> support for area requiring anima<br />

transportation or use. When directed, conducts operational <strong>and</strong> intelligence<br />

planning, preparation <strong>and</strong> execution of detachment missions.<br />

a. Major duties. Employs conventional <strong>and</strong> unconventional warfare<br />

tactics <strong>and</strong> techniques in communications. Duties for MOS 18E<br />

at each level of skill are:<br />

(1) MOSC 18E3O. Trains <strong>and</strong> maintains proficiency in all major<br />

duties. Organizes, trains, advises <strong>and</strong> supervises indigenous <strong>and</strong><br />

allied personnel in the installation, utilization <strong>and</strong> operation of radio<br />

equipment, radio nets, st<strong>and</strong>ard <strong>and</strong> expedient antenna systems <strong>and</strong><br />

wire communications. Proficient in <strong>and</strong> the instruction of the installation,<br />

operation <strong>and</strong> employment FM, AM, VHF, UHF, <strong>and</strong> SHF<br />

radio communication systems to transmit <strong>and</strong> receive radio messages<br />

in voice, continuous wave (CW), <strong>and</strong> burst code radio nets.<br />

Responsible for the establishment <strong>and</strong> maintenance of detachment<br />

tactical <strong>and</strong> operational communications <strong>and</strong> communication equipment.<br />

Plans, prepares <strong>and</strong> assists in the communications targets<br />

portion of the area study, prepares <strong>and</strong> assists in briefings, briefbacks<br />

<strong>and</strong> debriefings. Supervises the communication functions when<br />

in split detachment configuration for special operations or missions.<br />

Conducts C-E duties when task-organized in preparation (isolation)<br />

for missions <strong>and</strong> during operations, <strong>and</strong> advises the detachment<br />

comm<strong>and</strong>er on all communications matters.<br />

(2) MOSC 18E4O. Preforms all duties of preceding skill level.<br />

Advises <strong>and</strong> provides tactical <strong>and</strong> technical guidance to the detachment<br />

comm<strong>and</strong>er, indigenous <strong>and</strong> allied personnel. Responsible for<br />

the planning, execution <strong>and</strong> supervision of cross training of detachment<br />

members in special forces communications skills. Prepares the<br />

communications electronics portion of operations orders, area studies<br />

<strong>and</strong> area assessments. When directed, conducts operational <strong>and</strong><br />

intelligence in the planning, preparation <strong>and</strong> execution of detachment<br />

missions. Serves at SF battalion or higher level as frequency<br />

manager.<br />
