Major duties. The PATRIOT launching station enhanced operator/maintainer supervises or serves in an air defense unit or as a member of an air defense activity engaged in operations or intelligence functions of liaison units. Responsible for system emplacem e n t , i n i t i a l i z a t i o n , o p e r a t o r / o r g a n i z a t i o n a l l e v e l s y s t e m maintenance (limited to the ability to detect improper equipment operation or malfunction by use of the senses, embedded diagnostic aids; e.g., BIT/BITE and/or board test equipment, Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) (example, multimeter to prefer low voltage and continuity checks), technical references, technical inspections, adjustments, removal and replacement of battery replaceable units/line replaceable units (BRUs/LRUs), and other tasks authorized in the maintenance allocation chart (MAC) and preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) required to sustain or return the PATRIOT Launching Station (LS), Enhanced Launcher Electronic System (ELES), PATRIOT guided missile round, and associated equipment to its operational readiness condition. Provides technical training and guidance to subordinate personnel. Directs, instructs and evaluates tactical operating procedures. Supervises operations and intelligence functions. Trains evaluates and certifies PATRIOT LS Crews in AD table training crewdrills at unit/battalion level. Supervises operations and intelligence functions. Assists in supervising maintenance records and demand supported/diagnostics repair parts stockage procedures. Assist in designing and implementing the unit maintenance program. b. Major duties. The CHAPARRAL crewmember supervises or o p e r a t e s t h e C H A P A R R A L m i s s i l e s y s t e m a s a m e m b e r o f a CHAPARRAL fire unit or platoon or as a member of an Air Defense activity engaged in operations or intelligence functions. Duties for MOS 16P at each skill level are: (1) MOSC 16P1O. Operates and performs functional checks on the CHAPARRAL fire unit communications equipment. Operates and performs PMCS on the CHAPARRAL carrier. Performs deployment operations. Visually identifies threat and friendly aircraft. Plots fire unit position and early warning information on the manual SHORAD control system. Performs PMCS on the Identification, Friend or Foe (IFF) Programmer/Battery Charger. Programs the IFF Interrogator, AN/PPX-3 (STINGER). Performs gunner duties and search procedures using the CHAPARRAL Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) subsystem. Prepare daily journals and update enemy and friendly situations. Operates radio and telephone equipment. (2) MOSC 16P2O. Performs duties in preceding skill level, supervises lower grade soldiers and provides technical guidance to the soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. PerformsPMCS on the CHAPARRAL Launching Station. Collect, prepare, and process operations and intelligence information. Decodes and authenticates alert messages. Maintains proficiency with the employment and functions of all foreign high-density light and heavy weapons, man-portable air defense and anti-armor weapons. Duties for MOS 18C at each level of skill are: (1) MOSC 18C3O. Performs and maintains proficiency in all major duties. Performs and teaches tasks in demolitions, explosives, improvised munitions, U.S. and foreign landmines, mine/countermine operations, construction, field fortification, bridging, rigging, electrical wiring, reconnaissance, target analysis and civil action projects. Instructs and performs land and water navigation duties by interpreting maps, overlays, photos, charts and using standard and nonstandard navigational techniques and equipment. Plans, teaches and performs sabotage operations with standard, nonstandard and improvised munitions and explosives. 10–62. 16P—CHAPARRAL Crewmember (CHAPARRAL<br />
Crmbr), CMF 14 (Closed to women - see chapter 13)<br />
a. Major duties. The CHAPARRAL crewmember supervises or<br />
o p e r a t e s t h e C H A P A R R A L m i s s i l e s y s t e m a s a m e m b e r o f a<br />
CHAPARRAL fire unit or platoon or as a member of an Air Defense<br />
activity engaged in operations or intelligence functions. Duties<br />
for MOS 16P at each skill level are:<br />
(1) MOSC 16P1O. Operates <strong>and</strong> performs functional checks on<br />
the CHAPARRAL fire unit communications equipment. Operates<br />
<strong>and</strong> performs PMCS on the CHAPARRAL carrier. Performs deployment<br />
operations. Visually identifies threat <strong>and</strong> friendly aircraft. Plots<br />
fire unit position <strong>and</strong> early warning information on the manual<br />
SHORAD control system. Performs PMCS on the Identification,<br />
Friend or Foe (IFF) Programmer/Battery Charger. Programs the IFF<br />
Interrogator, AN/PPX-3 (STINGER). Performs gunner duties <strong>and</strong><br />
search procedures using the CHAPARRAL Forward Looking Infrared<br />
(FLIR) subsystem. Prepare daily journals <strong>and</strong> update enemy <strong>and</strong><br />
friendly situations. Operates radio <strong>and</strong> telephone equipment.<br />
(2) MOSC 16P2O. Performs duties in preceding skill level, supervises<br />
lower grade soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to the<br />
soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. PerformsPMCS on<br />
the CHAPARRAL Launching Station. Collect, prepare, <strong>and</strong> process<br />
operations <strong>and</strong> intelligence information. Decodes <strong>and</strong> authenticates<br />
alert messages. Inventories <strong>and</strong> destroys classified documents.<br />
(3) MOSC 16P3O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises<br />
lower grade soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to the<br />
soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Selects CHAPAR-<br />
RAL firing positions. Comm<strong>and</strong>s the senior gunner during target<br />
engagement. Supervises the march order <strong>and</strong> emplacement of the<br />
CHAPARRAL Fire Unit. Performs reconnaissance, selection, <strong>and</strong><br />
occupation of position.<br />
(4) MOSC 16P4O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises<br />
lower grade soldiers <strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to the<br />
soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Prepares,assembles,<br />
