10–59.1. 14L—AN/TSQ-73 Air Defense Artillery Command
and Control System Operator/Maintainer (AN/TSQ-73 ADA
CCS OP/Maint) (Reserve Components), CMF 14
a. Major duties. The AN/TSQ-73 air defense artillery command
and control system operator/maintainer supervises, operates and performs
unit level and direct support/general support maintenance on
the AN/TSQ-73 command and control system; Pulse Acquisition
Radar (PAR), Identification, Friend or Foe (IFF) and associated
communications equipment for the Fire Direction Center (FDC).
Duties for MOS 14L at each level of skill are:
(1) MOSC 14L1O. Operates and performs maintenance on the
AN/TSQ-73 ADA command and control system, IFF, PAR and
communications equipment in collection, evaluation and distribution
of target data to ADA fire units and tactical air control systems and
tactical air defense systems. Prepares AN/TSQ-73 ADA command
and control system, IFF, PAR and communications equipment in
collection, evaluation and distribution of target data to ADA, fire
units and tactical air control systems and tactical air defense systems.
Prepares AN/TSQ-73, PAR and IFF equipment for travel.
Performs march order and emplacement procedures. Performs reconnaissance,
selection, and occupation of position (RSOP) and
surviving to operate procedures. Prepares for and performs denial or
destruction of equipment.
(2) MOSC 14L2O. Performs duties in preceding skill level, supervises
and provides technical guidance to subordinate soldiers.
Collects and transmits intelligence data to firing batteries and other
units during air defense fire distribution center operations. Coordinates
training activities and requirements. Supervises a unit team of
AN/TSQ-73 ADA command and control system operators/maintainers.
(3) MOSC 14L3O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises
and provides technical guidance to subordinate soldiers.
Supervises the operation and maintenance of the AN/TSQ-73 system,
IFF, PAR and associated communications equipment at battali
o n o r h i g h e r l e v e l . D e t e r m i n e s f a u l t y w o r k p r a c t i c e s a n d
demonstrates proper maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.
Establishes and supervises training programs for alert procedures,
air defense exercises, preventative maintenance programs and annual
service practice tactical evaluations.
(4) MOSC 14L4O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises
and provides technical guidance to subordinate soldiers.
Performs operations and intelligence duties at battalion and higher
level. Directs, instructs and evaluates tactical operating procedures.
Assist in design of ADA defense and conduct of RSOP. Supervises
and monitors installation, operation and maintenance of the Army
Air Defense Command Post.
b. Physical demands rating and qualifications for initial award of
MOS. AN/TSQ-73 air defense artillery command and control system
operator/maintainers must possess the following qualifications:

Crewmember (MANPADS Crmbr) (Reserve Components),

serves as member of portable Air Defense system missile unit and
air defense activity engaged in operations and intelligence functions.
Duties for MOS 14M at each level of skill are:
(1) MOSC 14M1O. Establishes and maintains radio and wire
communications. Assist in maintaining situation map. Performs target
engagement evaluation. Applies infrared techniques to detect
and engage targets. Operates identification, friend or foe (IFF), programmer/charger.
Resupplies ammunition and prepares MANPADS
for firing. Fires MANPADS. Performs emergency procedures for
weapons systems.
(2) MOSC 14M2O. Performs duties in preceding skill level, supervises
and provides technical guidance to subordinate soldiers.
Collects and consolidates intelligence information. Processes special
and periodic reports. Prepares and maintains teams situation map.
Transmits intelligence and grid locations of incoming targets. Design

changes. Exercises fire control of MANPADS.
(3) MOSC 14M3O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises
and provides technical guidance to subordinate soldiers.
Writes and handles United States Message Test Format (USMTF)
messages. Prepares for and supervises section movement. Supervises
radio and wire communications. Plans for and supervises ammunition
resupply. Deploys section to provide air defense coverage.
Assist in establishing operations and intelligence data. Supervises
dissemination of air and ground early warning information on the
m a n u a l S H O R A D c o n t r o l s y s t e m ( M S C S ) . A s s i s t u p d a t e o f
OPORD, situation maps and overlays. Supervises electronic counter
measures and electronic counter countermeasures operations.
(4) MOSC 14M4O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises
and provides technical guidance to subordinate soldiers.
Supervises MANPADS platoon operations. Advises on tactical employment
and positioning of weapon systems. Performs and supervises
ADA battle management center operations. Conducts platoon
reconnaissance, selection and occupation of position (RSOP). Coordinates
platoon and section logistical activities.
