a. Major duties. The AN/TSQ-73 air defense artillery comm<strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>and</strong> control system operator/maintainer supervises, operates <strong>and</strong> performs<br />

unit level <strong>and</strong> direct support/general support maintenance on<br />

the AN/TSQ-73 comm<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> control system; Pulse Acquisition<br />

Radar (PAR), Identification, Friend or Foe (IFF) <strong>and</strong> associated<br />

communications equipment for the Fire Direction Center (FDC).<br />

Duties for MOS 14L at each level of skill are:<br />

(1) MOSC 14L1O. Operates <strong>and</strong> performs maintenance on the<br />

AN/TSQ-73 ADA comm<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> control system, IFF, PAR <strong>and</strong><br />

communications equipment in collection, evaluation <strong>and</strong> distribution<br />

of target data to ADA fire units <strong>and</strong> tactical air control systems <strong>and</strong><br />

tactical air defense systems. Prepares AN/TSQ-73 ADA comm<strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>and</strong> control system, IFF, PAR <strong>and</strong> communications equipment in<br />

collection, evaluation <strong>and</strong> distribution of target data to ADA, fire<br />

units <strong>and</strong> tactical air control systems <strong>and</strong> tactical air defense systems.<br />

Prepares AN/TSQ-73, PAR <strong>and</strong> IFF equipment for travel.<br />

Performs march order <strong>and</strong> emplacement procedures. Performs reconnaissance,<br />

selection, <strong>and</strong> occupation of position (RSOP) <strong>and</strong><br />

surviving to operate procedures. Prepares for <strong>and</strong> performs denial or<br />

destruction of equipment.<br />

(2) MOSC 14L2O. Performs duties in preceding skill level, supervises<br />

<strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to subordinate soldiers.<br />

Collects <strong>and</strong> transmits intelligence data to firing batteries <strong>and</strong> other<br />

units during air defense fire distribution center operations. Coordinates<br />

training activities <strong>and</strong> requirements. Supervises a unit team of<br />

AN/TSQ-73 ADA comm<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> control system operators/maintainers.<br />

(3) MOSC 14L3O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises<br />

<strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to subordinate soldiers.<br />

Supervises the operation <strong>and</strong> maintenance of the AN/TSQ-73 system,<br />

IFF, PAR <strong>and</strong> associated communications equipment at battali<br />

o n o r h i g h e r l e v e l . D e t e r m i n e s f a u l t y w o r k p r a c t i c e s a n d<br />

demonstrates proper maintenance <strong>and</strong> troubleshooting techniques.<br />

Establishes <strong>and</strong> supervises training programs for alert procedures,<br />

air defense exercises, preventative maintenance programs <strong>and</strong> annual<br />

service practice tactical evaluations.<br />

(4) MOSC 14L4O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises<br />

<strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to subordinate soldiers.<br />

Performs operations <strong>and</strong> intelligence duties at battalion <strong>and</strong> higher<br />

level. Directs, instructs <strong>and</strong> evaluates tactical operating procedures.<br />

Assist in design of ADA defense <strong>and</strong> conduct of RSOP. Supervises<br />

<strong>and</strong> monitors installation, operation <strong>and</strong> maintenance of the <strong>Army</strong><br />

Air Defense Comm<strong>and</strong> Post.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating <strong>and</strong> qualifications for initial award of<br />

MOS. AN/TSQ-73 air defense artillery comm<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> control system<br />

operator/maintainers must possess the following qualifications:<br />

(7) Formal training (or waiver issued by the Comm<strong>and</strong>ant, U.S.<br />

<strong>Army</strong> Air Defense Artillery School) m<strong>and</strong>atory.<br />

a . M a j o r d u t i e s . T h e M A N P A D S c r e w m e m b e r s u p e r v i s e s o r<br />

serves as member of portable Air Defense system missile unit <strong>and</strong><br />

air defense activity engaged in operations <strong>and</strong> intelligence functions.<br />

Duties for MOS 14M at each level of skill are:<br />

(1) MOSC 14M1O. Establishes <strong>and</strong> maintains radio <strong>and</strong> wire<br />

communications. Assist in maintaining situation map. Performs target<br />

engagement evaluation. Applies infrared techniques to detect<br />

<strong>and</strong> engage targets. Operates identification, friend or foe (IFF), programmer/charger.<br />

Resupplies ammunition <strong>and</strong> prepares MANPADS<br />

for firing. Fires MANPADS. Performs emergency procedures for<br />

weapons systems.<br />

(2) MOSC 14M2O. Performs duties in preceding skill level, supervises<br />

<strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to subordinate soldiers.<br />

Collects <strong>and</strong> consolidates intelligence information. Processes special<br />

<strong>and</strong> periodic reports. Prepares <strong>and</strong> maintains teams situation map.<br />

Transmits intelligence <strong>and</strong> grid locations of incoming targets. Design<br />

a t e s f i g h t i n g p o s i t i o n s . T r a n s m i t s a l e r t s t a t u s a n d r e a d i n e s s<br />

changes. Exercises fire control of MANPADS.<br />

(3) MOSC 14M3O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises<br />

<strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to subordinate soldiers.<br />

Writes <strong>and</strong> h<strong>and</strong>les United States Message Test Format (USMTF)<br />

messages. Prepares for <strong>and</strong> supervises section movement. Supervises<br />

radio <strong>and</strong> wire communications. Plans for <strong>and</strong> supervises ammunition<br />

resupply. Deploys section to provide air defense coverage.<br />

Assist in establishing operations <strong>and</strong> intelligence data. Supervises<br />

dissemination of air <strong>and</strong> ground early warning information on the<br />

m a n u a l S H O R A D c o n t r o l s y s t e m ( M S C S ) . A s s i s t u p d a t e o f<br />

OPORD, situation maps <strong>and</strong> overlays. Supervises electronic counter<br />

measures <strong>and</strong> electronic counter countermeasures operations.<br />

(4) MOSC 14M4O. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises<br />

<strong>and</strong> provides technical guidance to subordinate soldiers.<br />

Supervises MANPADS platoon operations. Advises on tactical employment<br />

<strong>and</strong> positioning of weapon systems. Performs <strong>and</strong> supervises<br />

ADA battle management center operations. Conducts platoon<br />

reconnaissance, selection <strong>and</strong> occupation of position (RSOP). Coordinates<br />

platoon <strong>and</strong> section logistical activities.<br />

M O S . M A N P A D S c r e w m e m b e r s m u s t p o s s e s s t h e f o l l o w i n g<br />

qualifications:<br />

(2) A physical profile of 111211.<br />

(3) Minimum height of 64 inches.<br />

( 4 ) D i s t a n c e v i s i o n c o r r e c t a b l e t o 2 0 / 2 0 w i t h o u t m u l t i f o c a l<br />

lenses.<br />

(5) Normal color vision.<br />

(6) A minimum score of 90 in aptitude area OF.<br />

(7) A security clearance of CONFIDENTIAL.<br />
