b . P h y s i c a l d e m a n d s r a t i n g a n d q u a l i f i c a t i o n s f o r t h e i n i t i a l<br />

award of MOS. MLRS crewmembers must possess the following<br />

qualifications:<br />

(1) A physical dem<strong>and</strong>s rating of moderately heavy.<br />

(2) A physical profile of 222221.<br />

(3) Color discrimination of red/green.<br />

(4) A minimum score of 105 in aptitude area OF.<br />

(5) A security clearance of SECRET.<br />

(6) A U.S. citizen.<br />

(7) Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator license or meet<br />

the criteria for motor vehicle driver <strong>and</strong> equipment operator selection,<br />

training, testing <strong>and</strong> licensing contained in AR 600-55.<br />

(8) Formal training under the auspices of USAFAS is m<strong>and</strong>atory<br />

to qualify for award of the MOS.<br />

c. Additional skill identifiers.<br />

(1) P5—Master Fitness Trainer.<br />

(2) 2S—Battle Staff Operations (skill level 3 <strong>and</strong> above).<br />

d. Physical requirements <strong>and</strong> st<strong>and</strong>ards of grade. Physical requirements<br />

10–55. 13P—Multiple Launch Rocket System Operations/<br />

Fire Direction Specialist (MLRS Op/FD Sp)<br />

CMF 13 (Closed to women - see chapter 13).<br />

a. Major duties. The multiple launch rocket system operations/<br />

fire direction specialist leads, supervises, or serves as a member of a<br />

MLRS fire direction center or firing platoon headquarters.<br />

(1) MOSC 13P1O. Records <strong>and</strong> transmits firing data using the<br />

Fire Direction System (FDS) <strong>and</strong> voice radio. Operates FDS, Advanced<br />

Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS), <strong>and</strong> MLRS<br />

communications equipment. Participates in gathering of operations<br />

<strong>and</strong> intelligence data. Plots using fire capability charts <strong>and</strong> friendly<br />

<strong>and</strong> enemy situation maps. Records ammunition expenditure, equipm<br />

e n t s e r v i c e a b i l i t y , s i t u a t i o n , f i r i n g p o i n t , t a r g e t , a n d m i s s i o n<br />

r e p o r t s . D r i v e s s e c t i o n v e h i c l e s , p e r f o r m s o p e r a t o r / c r e w m a i n t e -<br />

nance on section vehicles, generators, <strong>and</strong> equipment. Aids in collection<br />

<strong>and</strong> transmission of data. Installs, maintains, <strong>and</strong> operates<br />

radio wire communications, digital communications devices, <strong>and</strong><br />

secure voice equipment.<br />

(2) MOSC 13P2O. Assists in leading <strong>and</strong> directing fire direction<br />

personnel. Leads 13P personnel in MLRS Platoon FDC. Plots information<br />

using firing capabilities charts, friendly <strong>and</strong> enemy situation<br />

maps. Operates FDS, AFATDS, <strong>and</strong> MLRS communications equipment.<br />

Converts fire orders to fire comm<strong>and</strong>s.<br />

(2) MOSC 13P3O. Leads <strong>and</strong> instructs personnel in techniques<br />

<strong>and</strong> procedures in computation of firing data. Leads <strong>and</strong> instructs<br />

the operation of the FDS, AFATDS, <strong>and</strong> MLRS communications<br />

equipment. Leads personnel in MLRS Battery FDC. Maintains fire<br />

capability charts, <strong>and</strong> friendly <strong>and</strong> enemy situation maps. Maintains<br />

ammunition accountability, equipment serviceability, situation, firi<br />

n g p o i n t , t a r g e t , a n d m i s s i o n r e p o r t s . S u p e r v i s e s o p e r a t o r / c r e w<br />

maintenance on section vehicles, generators, <strong>and</strong> equipment.<br />

( 4 ) M O S C 1 3 P 4 O . S u p e r v i s e s o p e r a t i o n s o f F D C t o e n s u r e<br />

proper computations, plotting of targets <strong>and</strong> issuance of fire comm<strong>and</strong>s.<br />

Plans <strong>and</strong> organizes work schedules <strong>and</strong> assigns duties to<br />

fire direction personnel. Instructs <strong>and</strong> supervises personnel in techniques<br />

<strong>and</strong> procedures in computation of firing data. Reviews, cons<br />

o l i d a t e s , a n d p r e p a r e s t e c h n i c a l , p e r s o n n e l , a n d a d m i n i s t r a t i v e<br />

reports covering fire direction activities. Supervises the operation<br />

<strong>and</strong> maintenance of equipment in a MLRS Battalion FDC/Operations<br />

section. Leads <strong>and</strong> instructs in techniques <strong>and</strong> procedures in<br />

computation of firing data. Leads <strong>and</strong> instructs FDC personnel in<br />

tactical fire control of a MLRS Battalion.<br />

b. Physical dem<strong>and</strong>s ratings <strong>and</strong> qualifications for the initial<br />

10–56. 13R—Field Artillery (FA) Firefinder Radar Operator<br />

(FA Firefinder Rdr Opr), CMF 13 (Closed to women - see<br />

chapter 13)<br />

a. Major duties. The FA firefinder radar operator operates or<br />

provides leadership in the operation of FA radar systems.<br />

( 1 ) M O S C 1 3 R 1 O . E s t a b l i s h e s a n d m a i n t a i n s r a d i o a n d w i r e<br />

communications; Prepares for operation, <strong>and</strong> operates <strong>and</strong> maintains<br />

firefinder radars (AN/TPQ-36 or AN/TPQ-37) <strong>and</strong> associated equipment.<br />

Constructs fortifications, bunkers, <strong>and</strong> crew-served weapons<br />

e m p l a c e m e n t s . O p e r a t e s a n d p e r f o r m s o p e r a t o r m a i n t e n a n c e o n<br />

prime movers, radar system, <strong>and</strong> associated equipment.<br />

(2) MOSC 13R2O. Leads <strong>and</strong> supervises the preparation for operations<br />

<strong>and</strong> operates <strong>and</strong> maintains firefinder radars. Assists section<br />

chief in controlling soldiers <strong>and</strong> equipment also provides technical<br />

guidance to lower grade soldiers. Takes part in the reconnaissance<br />

<strong>and</strong> selection of site for emplacement of radar. Supervises <strong>and</strong><br />

schedules operational maintenance on radar <strong>and</strong> associated equipment.<br />

In the absence of the section chief, assumes the duties of the<br />

section chief.<br />

(3) MOSC 13R3O. Leads <strong>and</strong> supervises the combat operation of<br />

firefinder mortar locating radars. Leads, trains, <strong>and</strong> supervises soldiers<br />

in operation <strong>and</strong> maintenance of radar <strong>and</strong> associated equipm<br />

e n t . P r o v i d e s l e a d e r s h i p a n d t r a i n i n g f o r i n t e g r a t e d t a r g e t<br />

acquisition operations. Instructs soldiers in radar operation, techniques,<br />

<strong>and</strong> procedures. Leads <strong>and</strong> supervises unit maintenance on<br />

firefinder radar <strong>and</strong> ancillary equipment, <strong>and</strong> operator maintenance<br />

o n o r g a n i c c o m m u n i c a t i o n s e q u i p m e n t a n d v e h i c l e s . E v a l u a t e s ,<br />

processes, <strong>and</strong> reports target information to Bn/Divarty. Recommends<br />

positioning of direct support target acquisition radar assets,<br />

sectors of search, <strong>and</strong> radar zone positioning. Recommends cueing<br />

guidance to Bn/DIVARTY counterfire officer for weapon locating<br />

radars.<br />

(4) MOSC 13R4O. Leads <strong>and</strong> supervises the combat operations<br />

of radar platoons. Leads soldiers performing duties of FA firefinder<br />

radar operator. Conducts map <strong>and</strong> ground reconnaissance of general<br />

position areas for relocation of weapons locating radar. Coordinates<br />

survey data. Ensures radar visibility diagrams are constructed correctly<br />

for posting on battery capabilities chart. Conducts, coordinates,<br />

<strong>and</strong> evaluates platoon training. Leads, supervises, <strong>and</strong> trains<br />

the targeting element in a Tactical Operations Center in conjunction<br />

with the Fire Support Element (FSE). Collects <strong>and</strong> disseminates<br />

intelligence information <strong>and</strong> applies these products to the tactical<br />

e m p l o y m e n t o f T A a s s e t s a n d c o u n t e r f i r e o p e r a t i o n s . A s s i s t i n<br />

monitoring target acquisition assets operations, status, <strong>and</strong> current<br />

<strong>and</strong> proposed locations. Recommends TA coverage to include comm<strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>and</strong> control relationships of organic <strong>and</strong> attached TA assets.<br />

Provides input to DIVARTY S-2 for consolidation into the Target<br />

Acquisition Tab. Recommends the positioning of General Support<br />

TA assets, sector of search, <strong>and</strong> radar zone positioning. Prepares
