Military Occupational Classification and Structure - U.S. Army

(a) Commands a TMDE Maintenance Support Detachment/Team
and is responsible for morale, welfare, training, UCMJ, and discipline
of assigned personnel.
(b) Manages and supervises personnel and activities engaged in
calibration and repair of Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment
(TMDE), calibration standards, and related instruments and
accessories.
(c) Supervises direct support, general support, and depot level
maintenance of all supported TMDE.
( d ) E s t a b l i s h e s S t a n d i n g O p e r a t i n g P r o c e d u r e s a n d i n t e r n a l
policies.
(e) Manages supply, equipment and personnel assets.
(f) Coordinates technical, administrative, and logistical interface
b e t w e e n t h e d e t a c h m e n t / t e a m , s u p p o r t e d u n i t s , a n d u n i t o f
attachment.
(g) Prepares materiel readiness reports and provides input for unit
readiness reports.
(h) Develops, rehearses, and implements load plans and deployment
scenarios.
(i) Manages Instrument Master Record File (IMRF) for scheduled
and supported items of TMDE.
(j) Develops and manages interservice and intraservice support
agreements.
( k ) S e r v e s a s s y s t e m a d m i n i s t r a t o r f o r l o c a l A u t o m a t e d D a t a
Processing Equipment (ADPE) systems; including the Calibration
Management Information System (CALMIS), workstation controllers,
administrative ADPE, and supplementary devices.
(l) Evaluates specifications and analyzes measurement data to
ensure compliance.
(m) Employs highly specialized test and diagnostic procedures to
adjust or repair a broad spectrum of TMDE.
(n) Interprets technical data to maintain secondary reference and
t r a n s f e r l e v e l c a l i b r a t i o n s t a n d a r d s w i t h i n s p e c i f i e d f u n c t i o n a l
capabilities.
(o) Certifies accuracy of instrumentation and ensures that accuracy
is traceable to higher level standards.
(p) Performs error analysis on measurement systems.
(q) Evaluates and determines TMDE maintenance support req
u i r e m e n t s , e s t a b l i s h e s w o r k p r i o r i t i e s , a n d a s s i g n s w o r k t o
subordinates.
( r ) F o r m u l a t e s t e c h n i q u e s a n d p r o c e d u r e s f o r c a l i b r a t i o n a n d
repair of unique of complex TMDE.
(s) Solves unusually complex problems regarding diagnosis and
repair.
(t) Estimates TMDE repair requirements and costs, and determines
economic repairability.
(u) Determines substitutability or fabrication of minor parts and
electronic assemblies.
(v) Interprets, applies, and disseminates administrative, technical,
logistical, and supply publications and related data.

reports.
(x) Establishes unit safety program; and ensures adherence to
safety policies, practices, and regulations associated with electricity,
pressurized gases, ionizing radiation, microwave radiation, laser radiation,
and mercury handling hazards.
(y) Observes work practices and ensures correct application of
procedures and techniques.
( z ) S u p e r v i s e s t h e r e c e i p t , s u r v e i l l a n c e , s h i p p i n g , a n d u s e o f
radiological sources.
(aa) Conducts surveillance inspections in accordance with Nuclear
Regulatory Commission (NRC) requirements.
(ab) Supervises local radiation dosimetry program.
(ac) Instructs personnel in the use of calibration standards and
workstations; and the application of specialized test procedures and
metrology skills to calibrate TMDE, isolate causes of TMDE failures
and malfunctions, and in making repair or modifications.
(ad) Trains personnel to operate and maintain the Calibration
Management Information System (CALMIS).
(ae) Prepares and implements a unit Mission Essential Task List
(METL).
(af) Ensures that maintenance schedules are adhered to and that
scheduled maintenance programs include regular preventive maintenance
checks and services.

and activities.
(ah) Implements Army maintenance management policy and The
Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS); and applies the
directive TB 750-25 within internal and support operations.
(ai) Estimates supply requirements and requisitions replacement
parts and supplies.
(aj) Supervises maintenance of unit bench and shop stocks.
(ak) Forecasts ammunition requirements.
(al) Ensures initial, in-process, and final quality assurance/quality
control (QA/QC) procedures are established and applied to work
processes and end-item sampling plans.
(am) Serves as principal advisor on TMDE matters to divisional/
corps commanders and materiel management centers.
(an) Participates with battalion and higher level staff in developing
contingency and deployment plans, field exercises, maintenance
management strategies, and other actions that relate to TMDE maintenance
support.
(ao) Provides technical assistance and advice regarding TMDE
development, procurement, capabilities and limitations, and employment
to commanders and staff officers.
( a p ) A s s i s t s c o m m a n d e r s o f s u p p o r t u n i t s i n i d e n t i f y i n g a n d
scheduling TMDE support requirements.
(aq) Establishes and maintains a viable unit physical security and
crime prevention program.
(ar) Plans, prepares, and maintains an operating budget for the
detachment/team.
(as) Monitors fiscal allocations, commitments, and expenditures;
and maintains financial accountability.
(at) Establishes, monitors, and maintains a comprehensive environmental
protection program IAW national and local directives.
(2) CW3—
(a) Performs duties described in paragraph g(1).
(b) Monitors and evaluates the performance of contractor personnel
performing calibration and repair functions for the Army.
(c) Serves as Engineering Technician or Maintenance Engineering
Technician, involved in calibration equipment or TMDE development
and support activities, at a MACOM or sub-MACOM.
(3) CW4—
(a) Performs duties described in paragraph g(2).
(b) Develops, implements, and monitors programs of instruction
that enhance training of other warrant officer and enlisted MOSs.
(4) CW5—
(a) Performs duties described in paragraph g(3).
(b) Integrates TMDE functions across MACOM or Department
of the Army levels.
(c) Provides technical and tactical assistance at any echelon of
command or suport activity for the U.S. Army, or liaison activities
with allied armies.
(d) Presents written or oral briefings to line, staff, and professional
personnel on TMDE programs and related subject matters.
