applicable to the MFAD systems.<br />

(b) Applies theory <strong>and</strong> fundamentals of solid-state devices employed<br />

in the MFAD systems.<br />

(c) Directs test procedures, diagnostic system analysis, <strong>and</strong> trouble-shooting<br />

of mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneum<br />

a t i c a n d o p t i c a l m a l f u n c t i o n s o n M F A D s y s t e m s a n d t h e i r<br />

components.<br />

(d) Monitors <strong>and</strong> directs maintenance responsibilities <strong>and</strong> unit<br />

status reporting for missile support units.<br />

(e) Manages, directs, <strong>and</strong> monitors operations <strong>and</strong> integration of<br />

the automated Unit Level Logistic System (ULLS), St<strong>and</strong>ard <strong>Army</strong><br />

Maintenance System (SAMS-1), <strong>and</strong> the St<strong>and</strong>ard <strong>Army</strong> Retail Supply<br />

System (SARSS).<br />

(f) Interprets technical data <strong>and</strong> instructs subordinates in technical<br />

aspects of supported missile systems.<br />

(g) Manages activities, supervises personnel, <strong>and</strong> allocates resources<br />

to provide for smooth <strong>and</strong> continuous maintenance <strong>and</strong><br />

repair operations in a garrison <strong>and</strong> tactical environment.<br />

(h) Advises comm<strong>and</strong>ers on technical aspects of MFAD systems<br />

maintenance, support testing <strong>and</strong> supply.<br />

(i) Supervises maintenance <strong>and</strong> repair of organic tools, test equipment,<br />

<strong>and</strong> associated training equipment.<br />

(j) Instructs subordinates in operating procedures, <strong>and</strong> maintenance<br />

techniques used in the care of special tools <strong>and</strong> supporting<br />

equipment; as well as the <strong>Army</strong> Maintenance Management System<br />

(TAMMS).<br />

(k) Directs <strong>and</strong> assists personnel in solving unusually complex<br />

problems of diagnosis, <strong>and</strong> modification, of automated test equipment<br />

used in support of MFAD systems.<br />

(l) Ensures quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) procedures<br />

are followed.<br />

(m) Estimates supply requirements, observes work practices, <strong>and</strong><br />

detects <strong>and</strong> corrects improper procedures <strong>and</strong> techniques.<br />

(n) Manages, examines, interprets, disseminates, <strong>and</strong> verifies requirements<br />

for technical publications in the unit.<br />

(o) Supervises maintenance support team activities.<br />

(p) Initiates <strong>and</strong> monitors report of discrepancy (ROD), quality<br />

discrepancy report (QDR), <strong>and</strong> engineering change proposal (ECP)<br />

documents.<br />

(q) Implements proper safety <strong>and</strong> security procedures applicable<br />

to MFAD systems support.<br />

(r) Develops, coordinates, updates, <strong>and</strong> applies internal administrative<br />

procedures to requisition, receive, issue, <strong>and</strong> store repair<br />

parts, tools, publications, <strong>and</strong> supplies.<br />

(s) Directs the operation of a unit prescribed load list (PLL) for<br />

organizational repair parts <strong>and</strong> maintenance related items.<br />

(t) Manages the scheduling of periodic maintenance, services,<br />

<strong>and</strong> calibration of organic equipment.<br />

(2) CW3—<br />

(a) Performs duties described in paragraph g(1).<br />

(b) Monitors <strong>and</strong> directs work-flow <strong>and</strong> test procedures, diagnostic<br />

system analysis, <strong>and</strong> troubleshooting techniques for automated<br />

test equipment supporting MFAD systems.<br />

(c) Monitors, identifies, <strong>and</strong> rectifies anomalies in the requisition<br />

life cycle of repair parts requisitions.<br />

(d) Conducts periodic inspections of equipment to ensure compliance<br />

with established maintenance st<strong>and</strong>ards <strong>and</strong> programs.<br />

(e) Conducts liaison with supported units to determine future<br />

support requirements <strong>and</strong> satisfaction with current support.<br />

(f) Assists the comm<strong>and</strong>er or shop officer in the application of<br />

available automation resources to optimize DS/GS shop operations.<br />

(g) Manages, supervises, directs <strong>and</strong> monitors DS/GS maintenance<br />

section activities <strong>and</strong> the utilization of Maintenance Support<br />

Teams.<br />

(h) Develops, implements, <strong>and</strong> monitors programs of instruction<br />

that enhance training of other warrant officer <strong>and</strong> enlisted MOSs.<br />

(3) CW4—<br />

(a) Performs duties described in paragraph g(2).<br />

(b) Monitors, coordinates, <strong>and</strong> analyzes contracting, procurement,<br />

<strong>and</strong> material acquisition programs for new <strong>and</strong> existing MFAD<br />

systems.<br />

(c) Provides data <strong>and</strong> technical guidance concerning future requirements,<br />

MWO, product improvement program (PIP), <strong>and</strong> related<br />

program information that has an impact upon Life Cycle Systems<br />

Management (LCSM) of MFAD systems.<br />

(d) Provides technical <strong>and</strong> tactical assistance at any echelon of<br />

comm<strong>and</strong> or support activity for the U.S. <strong>Army</strong>, or liaison activities<br />

with allied armies.<br />

(e) Presents written or oral briefings to line, staff, <strong>and</strong> professional<br />

personnel on maintenance <strong>and</strong> related subject matters.<br />

(4) CW5—<br />

(a) Performs duties described in paragraph g(3).<br />

(b) Provides coordination between military <strong>and</strong> industry during<br />

development, testing, <strong>and</strong> fielding of new MFAD systems.<br />

( c ) M a n a g e s t h e d e v e l o p m e n t o f t r a i n i n g p a c k a g e s t o e n s u r e<br />

<strong>Army</strong> personnel are prepared to operate <strong>and</strong> maintain the new systems<br />

h. Grading <strong>and</strong> position titles. Authorized position titles are provided<br />

in appendixes B <strong>and</strong> C. The following grades are used to code<br />

positions into one of four definable skill levels: W2 equals WO1/<br />

CW2; W3 equals CW3; W4 equals CW4; <strong>and</strong> W5 equals CW5. The<br />

grades are listed in the following st<strong>and</strong>ards of grade tables:<br />

8–101. Area of Concentration 918—TMDE Maintenance<br />

Support<br />

There is one warrant officer specialty within this AOC. The skills<br />

<strong>and</strong> knowledge required to qualify for this specialty provides the<br />

technical expertise to maintain, repair <strong>and</strong> calibrate the <strong>Army</strong>’s<br />

general <strong>and</strong> selected special purpose test, measurement <strong>and</strong> diagnostic<br />

equipment (TMDE).<br />

8–102. <strong>Military</strong> <strong>Occupational</strong> Specialty 918A-TMDE<br />

Maintenance Support Technician<br />

a. Licensing/certification requirement. None.<br />

b. Prerequisites. DA Cir 601 series.<br />

c. MOS 918A. MOS 918A is an accession MOS. The enlisted<br />

feeder MOS is 35H.<br />

d. Associated SQI.<br />

(1) 0—No special qualifications.<br />

(2) 7—Parachutist.<br />

(3) 8—Instructor.<br />

(4) T—Transition (personnel only).<br />

(5) Z—Research, Development, Test <strong>and</strong> Evaluation Technician.<br />

e. Associated ASI.<br />

(1) 6M—Mobilization <strong>and</strong> Demobilization Operations.<br />

(2) 6P—Master Fitness Trainer.<br />

f. Qualifications.<br />

(1) WO1/CW2 must—<br />

(a) Complete the TMDE Maintenance Support Warrant Officer<br />

Basic Course.<br />

(b) Have normal vision correctable to 20/20; normal color discrimination<br />

<strong>and</strong> hearing per AR 40-501; <strong>and</strong> full use of both h<strong>and</strong>s.<br />

(c) Have good eye-h<strong>and</strong> coordination <strong>and</strong> manual dexterity to<br />

make minute adjustments on sensitive instruments.<br />

(2) CW3 must—<br />

(a) Meet qualifications described in paragraph f(i).<br />

(b) Complete the Ordnance Warrant Officer Advanced Course.<br />

(3) CW4 must—<br />

(a) Meet qualifications described in paragraph f(2).<br />

(b) Complete the Warrant Officer Staff Course (WOSC).<br />

(4) CW5 must—<br />

(a) Meet qualifications described in paragraph f(3).<br />
