positions into one of four definable skill levels: W2 equals WO1/<br />

CW2; W3 equals CW3; W4 equals CW4; <strong>and</strong> W5 equals CW5. The<br />

grades are listed in the following st<strong>and</strong>ards of grade tables:<br />

(b) Manages Direct Support (DS) <strong>and</strong> General Support (GS) level<br />

repair of automotive equipment.<br />

(c) Manages work flow to subordinates.<br />

(d) Ensures quality of work performed through inspections <strong>and</strong><br />

test of outgoing equipment.<br />

(e) Establishes maintenance <strong>and</strong> repair schedules based on equipment<br />

density, unit mission, <strong>and</strong> availability of parts, tools, <strong>and</strong><br />

personnel.<br />

(f) Establishes internal administrative procedures to requisition,<br />

r e c e i v e , i s s u e , a n d s t o r e t o o l s , p a r t s , p u b l i c a t i o n s , a n d P O L<br />

products.<br />

( g ) I n s t r u c t s a n d m o n i t o r s s t u d e n t s i n s e r v i c e s c h o o l<br />

environment.<br />

(h) Diagnoses complex malfunctions in automotive equipment<br />

<strong>and</strong> instructs personnel on such repair.<br />

(i) Establishes <strong>and</strong> enforces a shop fire <strong>and</strong> safety program per<br />

applicable regulations.<br />

(j) Manages disposal of used POL products.<br />

(k) Writes <strong>and</strong> updates internal maintenance shop SOPs.<br />

(3) CW4—<br />

(a) Performs duties described in paragraph g(2).<br />

(b) Acts as technical advisor to Brigade/Group level comm<strong>and</strong>ers<br />

<strong>and</strong> staffs.<br />

(c) Operates within the research <strong>and</strong> development area of wheel<br />

vehicles <strong>and</strong> light, medicum, <strong>and</strong> heavy track vehicles.<br />

( d ) S u p e r v i s e s s u p p o r t m a i n t e n a n c e q u a l i t y a s s u r a n c e / q u a l i t y<br />

control operations.<br />

(4) CW5—<br />

(a) Performs duties described in paragraph g(3).<br />

There is one warrant officer specialty within this AOC. The skills<br />

<strong>and</strong> knowledge required to qualify for this specialty is necessary to<br />

provide the technical expertise to maintain <strong>and</strong> repair the <strong>Army</strong>’s<br />

high-to-medium air defense systems.<br />

8–98. <strong>Military</strong> <strong>Occupational</strong> Specialty 916A—High-to-<br />

Medium Air Defense (HIMAD) Direct Support/General<br />

Support Maintenance Technician<br />

a. Licensing/certiification requirement. None.<br />

b. Prerequisites. DA Cir 601 series.<br />

c. MOS 916A. MOS 916A is an accession MOS. The enlisted<br />

feeder MOSs are 24H, 24K, 27H, 27J, 27K, <strong>and</strong> 27X.<br />

(1) 0—No special qualifications.<br />

(2) 7—Parachutist.<br />

(3) 8—Instructor.<br />

(4) T—Transition (personnel only).<br />

(5) Z—Research, Development, Test, <strong>and</strong> Evaluation Technician.<br />

(a) Meet the qualifications outlined in paragraph f(1).<br />

(b) Completed the Ordnance Warrant Officer Advanced Course.<br />

(3) CW4 must—<br />

(a) Meet the qualifications outlined in paragraph f(2).<br />

(b) Complete the Warrant Officer Staff Course (WOSC).<br />

(4) CW5 must—<br />

(a) Meet the qualifications outlined in paragraph f(3).<br />

(b) Complete the Warrant Officer Senor Staff Course (WOSSC).<br />
