(c) Provides technical advisory services on contracting <strong>and</strong> production<br />

matters to comm<strong>and</strong>ers.<br />

(d) Provides coordination between military <strong>and</strong> industry during<br />

development, testing <strong>and</strong> fielding of new munitions <strong>and</strong> missile<br />

explosive components.<br />

(g) Performs other officer level duties as required consistant with<br />

senior staff officer responsibilities.<br />

h. Grading <strong>and</strong> position titles. Authorized position titles are provided<br />

in tables 6-2 <strong>and</strong> 6-3. The following grades are used to code<br />

positions into one of four definable skill levels: W2 equals WO1/<br />

CW2; W3 equals CW3; W4 equals CW4; <strong>and</strong> W5 equals CW5. The<br />

grades are listed in the following st<strong>and</strong>ards of grade tables:<br />

(1) Table 8-910A-1. St<strong>and</strong>ards of grade TOE/MTOE.<br />

8–87. Area of Concentration 912—L<strong>and</strong> Combat Missile<br />

Systems<br />

There is one warrant officer specialty within this AOC. The skills<br />

<strong>and</strong> knowledge required to qualify for this specialty provides expertise<br />

to maintain <strong>and</strong> repair the <strong>Army</strong>’s l<strong>and</strong> combat missile systems.<br />

8–88. <strong>Military</strong> <strong>Occupational</strong> Specialty 912A—L<strong>and</strong> Combat<br />

Missile Systems Technician<br />

a. Licensing/certification requirement. None.<br />

b. Prerequisites. DA Cir 601 series.<br />

c. MOS 912A. MOS 912A is an accession MOS. The enlisted<br />

feeder MOSs are 27E, 27M, 27Z, 35Y <strong>and</strong> 39B.<br />

d. Associated SQI.<br />

(1) 0—No special qualifications.<br />

(2) 7—Parachutist.<br />

(3) 8—Instructor.<br />

(4) T—Transition (personnel only).<br />

(5) Z—Research, Development, Test, <strong>and</strong> Evaluation Technician.<br />

e. Associated ASI.<br />

(1) 6M—Mobilization <strong>and</strong> Demobilization Operations.<br />

(2) 6P—Master Fitness Trainer.<br />

f. Qualifications.<br />

(1) WO1/CW2 must—<br />

(a) Complete the L<strong>and</strong> Combat Missile Systems Warrant Officer<br />

Basic Course.<br />

(b) Have normal vision correctable to 20/20; normal color discrimination<br />

<strong>and</strong> hearing per AR 40-501; <strong>and</strong> full use of both h<strong>and</strong>s.<br />

(2) CW3 must—<br />

(a) Meet qualifications described in paragraph f(1).<br />

(b) Complete the Ordnance Warrant Officer Advanced Course.<br />

(3) CW4 must—<br />

(a) Meet qualifications described in paragraph f(2).<br />

(b) Complete the Warrant Officer Staff Course (WOSC).<br />

(4) CW5 must—<br />

(a) Meet qualifications described in paragraph f(3).<br />

(b) Complete the Warrant Officer Senior Staff Course (WOSSC).<br />

g. Duties.<br />

(1) WO1/CW2—<br />

(a) Employs digital switching theory, logic, computer, mechanical,<br />

hydraulic, <strong>and</strong> infrared fundamentals applicable to the MLRS,<br />

TOW, TOW2, Bradley Fighting Vehicle subsystem, TOW/TOW2<br />

subsystem, associated man-portable common thermal night sights,<br />

<strong>and</strong> the LCSS.<br />

(b) Applies theory <strong>and</strong> fundamentals of solid-state devices <strong>and</strong><br />

optics employed in guidance <strong>and</strong> sighting systems.<br />

(c) Directs test procedures, diagnostic system analysis, <strong>and</strong> trouble<br />

shooting techniques.<br />

(d) Directs organizational maintenance <strong>and</strong> unit status reporting<br />

for tactical units.<br />

(e) Interprets technical data <strong>and</strong> instructs subordinates in technical<br />

aspects of supported missile systems.<br />

(f) Manages the automated Maintenance Reporting <strong>and</strong> Management<br />

system (MRMS), technical <strong>and</strong> shop supply procedures.<br />

(g) Manages supply, equipment, facilities, <strong>and</strong> personnel in the<br />

maintenance of supported l<strong>and</strong> combat missile systems, associated<br />

equipment, <strong>and</strong> training devices.<br />

(h) Advises comm<strong>and</strong>ers on technical aspects of l<strong>and</strong> combat<br />

missile system maintenance, support testing, <strong>and</strong> supply.<br />

(i) Supervises maintenance <strong>and</strong> repair of organic tools, test equipment<br />

<strong>and</strong> associated training equipment.<br />

(j) Supervises the activities of personnel engaged in isolating<br />

technical malfunctions <strong>and</strong> repair of l<strong>and</strong> combat missile systems.<br />

(k) Observes work practices, detects <strong>and</strong> corrects improper procedures<br />

<strong>and</strong> techniques.<br />

(l) Manages, examines, interprets, disseminates, <strong>and</strong> verifies requirements<br />

for technical publications in the unit.<br />

( m ) D i r e c t s D S / G S m a i n t e n a n c e o p e r a t i o n s i n a t a c t i c a l<br />

environment.<br />

(n) Directs repair of system components, including guidance control<br />

systems, organizational testers, optical trackers, modulators, infrared<br />

sensors, <strong>and</strong> the conduct-of-fire trainer.<br />

(o) Directs operations, maintenance <strong>and</strong> calibration of the LCSS.<br />

(p) Supervises maintenance support team activities.<br />

(q) Supervises maintenance personnel assigned to a detachment<br />

or the l<strong>and</strong> combat section, main missile support company, support<br />

TOW/TOW2, DRAGON, <strong>and</strong> MLRS.<br />

(2) CW3—<br />

(a) Performs duties described in paragraph g(1).<br />

(b) Manages, supervises, directs <strong>and</strong> monitors DS/GS maintenance<br />

section activities <strong>and</strong> the utilization of Maintenance Support<br />

Teams.<br />

(c) Develops, implements, <strong>and</strong> monitors programs of instruction<br />

that enhance training of other warrant officer <strong>and</strong> enlisted MOSs.<br />

( d ) E n s u r e s q u a l i t y a s s u r a n c e / q u a l i t y c o n t r o l ( Q A / Q C ) p r o c e -<br />

dures are followed.<br />

(e) Monitors, identifies, <strong>and</strong> rectifies anomalies in the requisition<br />

life cycle of repair parts requisitions.<br />

(f) Conducts liaison visits to supported units to determine future<br />

support requirements <strong>and</strong> satisfaction with current support.<br />

(3) CW4—<br />

(a) Performs duties described in paragraph g(2).<br />

(b) Coordinates between military <strong>and</strong> industry during development,<br />

testing, <strong>and</strong> fielding of new l<strong>and</strong> combat missile systems <strong>and</strong><br />

equipment.<br />

( c ) M a n a g e s t h e d e v e l o p m e n t o f t r a i n i n g p a c k a g e s t o e n s u r e<br />

<strong>Army</strong> personnel are prepared to operate <strong>and</strong> maintain the new systems<br />

prior to fielding.<br />

(d) Provides data <strong>and</strong> technical guidance concerning future requirements,<br />

modification work order (MWO), product improvement<br />

program (PIP), <strong>and</strong> related program information that has an impact<br />

upon Life Cycle Systems Management (LCSM) of l<strong>and</strong> combat<br />

missile systems.<br />

(e) Provides technical <strong>and</strong> tactical assistance at any echelon of<br />

comm<strong>and</strong> or support activity for the U.S. <strong>Army</strong>, or liaison activities<br />

with allied armies.<br />

(f) Presents written or oral briefings to line, staff, <strong>and</strong> professional<br />

personnel on maintenance or related subject matters.<br />
