Jones's and Waggoner's message and not the<br />

whole, she would have made the distinction<br />

exceedingly clear, and done so numerous times.<br />

Her ability to emphasize a thought through<br />

repetition is very well known, even painfully so.<br />

(b) Waggoner's 1887,1889, and 1890<br />

statements on the nature of Christ were so radical<br />

or "shocking" that they would surely have elicited<br />

her very prompt and decisive disavowals if she had<br />

entertained even the slightest opposition to them.<br />

(c) Although her more than 200 endorsements<br />

of Jones's and Waggoner's message show sympathy<br />

for them as hard-pressed messengers, she would<br />

never for a moment gloss over defects in their<br />

message if she disagreed with it. Her letter of<br />

correction to Jones dated April 9,1893, is an<br />

example. If one suggests that she would not have<br />

written earlier letters objecting to their teaching for<br />

fear she might discourage zealous young workers,<br />

it is necessary only to remind ourselves that she<br />

knew very well how to write to hard-pressed<br />
