Several factors may be worth looking at:
Not all babies have temper tantrums, or exhibit
perversity and rebellion. "Before he is old enough
to reason, he [the child] may be taught to obey"
(CG p. 82). Our "children have sensitive, loving
natures.... Brought up under the wise and loving
guidance of a true home, children will have no
desire to wander away in search of pleasure and
companionship. Evil will not attract them. The
spirit that prevails in the home will mold their
characters" (MH 388, 394). If these things are true
of our children, could they not also be true of
Jesus? "Even the babe in its mother's arms may
dwell as under the shadow of the Almighty through
the faith of the praying mother" (DA 515). John the
Baptist was an example of a baby who was "filled
with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's
womb" (Luke 1:15). Yet we recognize that such
babies as here described are not born with a sinless
nature!
