ejoiced in God my Saviour" (Luke 1:47), but the<br />

angel said "that which is conceived in her is of the<br />

Holy Spirit" (Matthew 1:20). It was a holy, not a<br />

sinful conception. But Jesus inherited from Mary<br />

the same kind of flesh or nature that she had. <strong>The</strong>re<br />

was no cutoff or "exemption" that removed Him<br />

from her genetic inheritance.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re is something in the words of Jesus that<br />

parallels this cry of David's but does not<br />

compromise His total sinlessness. Remember, "the<br />

Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all" (Isaiah<br />

53:6) and He was "made to be sin for us" (2<br />

Corinthians 5:21). In two Messianic psalms Christ<br />

speaks of the realty of His identification with us.<br />

He had no sin of His own, but He took ours, and<br />

was made to be sin for us:<br />

<strong>The</strong>n I said, Behold, I come; in the scroll of the<br />

Book it is written of Me, I delight to do Your will,<br />

O My God, and Your law is within My heart....<br />

Innumerable evils have surrounded Me; My<br />

iniquities have overtaken Me, so that I am not able<br />

to look up; they are more than the hairs of My<br />
