Introduction
Why This Subject Is Important
Jesus our Saviour! How could anything be
more important than seeing Him as He truly is?
The author of Hebrews urges us to "consider"
Him, the Greek word (katanoeo) meaning to
"perceive clearly," intensively, to "understand
fully, closely." Our spiritual weaknesses and
defeats come from not obeying that command
found in Hebrews 3:1.
Since His name is "Immanuel,... God with us,"
we must "perceive clearly" that He is both fully
God and fully man. How to understand this has
been a main problem for nearly two thousand years
and is still so among Seventh-day Adventists
today. Yet "the humanity of the Son of God is
everything to us. It is the golden chain that binds
our souls to Christ, and through Christ to God. This
is to be our study." (ISM 244, emphasis added).
