ÇRÉ NITYÄNANDA CARITÄMÅTA
lotus-eyed Lord loudly talked in a way that appeared incoherent.
He smiled and moved His body to and fro in the mood of
Saìkarñaëa. After a short while, the Lord returned to external
consciousness.
Explaining the meaning of His dream, The Lord was in the
mood of Balaräma. The Lord said, “I have a feeling in My heart
that some holy personality has arrived at Navadvépa. I already
told all of you that we would meet Him soon. O Haridäsa, O
Çréväsa Paëòita, go and find out who has come and where He
has come from.”
By the order of the Lord, both pure devotees (Haridäsa
Öhäkura 3 and Çréväsa Paëòita 4 ) happily wandered throughout
the town, searching all over Navadvépa for Lord Nityänanda.
While wandering here and there, they happily talked to one
another. They considered that Lord Saìkarñaëa might have
come. They happily wandered through the streets of Navadvépa,
but were unable to receive any news. After searching the entire
town of Navadvépa for nine hours, they returned to the Lord
without success.
Haridäsa Öhäkura and Çréväsa Paëòita humbly reported to
the Lord: “We did not find the person You spoke of anywhere
in Navadvépa. We looked in the houses of sannyäsés, Vaiñëavas,
jïänis, and atheists. We saw all of Navadvépa, but did not go to
villages outside Navadvépa.”
Hearing them, Çré Gaurasundara began to smile. On the
pretext of ordering the search, He showed that Lord Nityä-
3 Haridäsa Öhäkura was a famous devotee of Lord Gauräìga.
He was the combined form of Lord Brahmä, the creator, and Prahläda
Mahäräja, the devotee among the demons. Haridäsa was born in a
Muslim family in the village of Burdwan. He took initiation from Advaita
Äcärya and spent some time at Çäntipura and Pulia. He was
beaten in twenty-two market places by the Muslim king of Bengal. He
participated in the pastimes of Lord Caitanya in Navadvépa. Later, he
came to Jagannätha Puré, where he spent the rest of his life. He left is
body by his own sweet will while looking at the face of Lord Caitanya
Mahäprabhu.
