ÇRÉ NITYÄNANDA CARITÄMÅTA
enjoyed His pastimes were incarnations of gopas and gopés of
Vraja. Being forbidden by Nityänanda Svarüpa, I will not mention
their previous names or many details of their activities. The
foremost among Lord Nityänanda’s associates was Rämadäsa,
who always spoke in the mood of the Supreme Lord. Nobody
could understand his words. Lord Nityänanda always resided in
his heart. Rämadäsa was fully absorbed in love of God. Lord
Kåñëa once lived in his body for three months.
Caitanya däsa 25 was a very famous associate of Nityänanda.
Muräri Paëòita 26 was an associate of Nityänanda who sported
with a serpent and a tiger. The most magnanimous Raghunätha
Vaidya was an associate of Nityänanda, by whose desire one’s
mind becomes attached to Lord Kåñëa.
Gadädhara däsa 27 was a reservoir of devotional mellows. His
very sight destroyed all of one’s sins.
Çré Sundaränanda 28 was an ocean of devotional mellows
and he was one of the principal associates of Nityänanda.
Gaurédäsa Paëòita was a most fortunate devotee of the Lord. He
assisted in Nityänanda’s pastimes with his body, mind, and speech.
25 The identity of Caitanya däsa is unknown, but the book
Prema-viläsa mentions the a Caitanya däsa who was a disciple of
Jähnavä-devé, the consort of Nityänanda. He was a resident of Vanaviñëupura
in the district of Baìkura.
26 Muräri Paëòita was another name of Muräri Caitanya däsa.
His glories are equal to those of Prahläda Mahäräja. Absorbed in
prema, he once slapped the face of a tiger and on another occasion,
played with a snake.
27 Çréla Gadädhara däsa was the combined form of Candrakänti
and Pürnänanda gopés of Vraja. His birthplace was at Ediyadaha.
His samädhé is at Katwa, where Lord Caitanya took sannyäsa.
28 Sundaränanda Öhäkura was the cowherd boy of Vraja named
Sudäma. His birthplace was in the village of Halda Maheçpura in the
district of Jessore in present-day Bangladesh. He made kadamba flowers
appear from a blackberry tree.
