ÇRÉ NITYÄNANDA CARITÄMÅTA
a plough and possesses a gigantic body. Although exceptionally
grave, He is intoxicated by the glories of Lord Caitanya.
There is no one dearer to Lord Caitanya than Lord Nityänanda.
Therefore, Lord Caitanya eternally enjoys pastimes with Him.
Çré Kåñëa Caitanya becomes most satisfied with one who hears
or chants the glories of Lord Nityänanda. I have thus described
a portion of Lord Ananta’s glories. Please, therefore, develop attachment
for Lord Nityänanda.
Those who wish to cross the ocean of material existence
and drown in the ocean of devotional service should worship
Lord Nityänanda. My only desire at the feet of the Vaiñëavas is
that I may worship the lotus feet of Lord Balaräma, birth after
birth. Just as dvija, vipra, and brähmaëa are different names of
the same person, so Nityänanda, Ananta, and Baladeva are different
names of the same Lord. Therefore, Çré Ananta is the
embodiment of Lord Caitanya’s glories. I have thus described a
fragment of the glories of Lord Ananta. Hearing the pastimes of
Çré Nityänanda brings all auspiciousness. Know for certain that
they are revealed only by the mercy of the devotees.
Who can understand the pastimes of Lord Nityänanda?
They are confidential even to the Vedas. I write only what I
have heard from the devotees. I find no beginning or end to
the pastimes of Lord Nityänanda. I write whatever He inspires
me to write. Just as a puppet dances only by the control of the
puppeteer, whatever I describe is simply by the direction of Lord
Nityänanda. Let me offer my respectful obeisances at the feet of
the Vaiñëavas, so that I may not commit any offences to them.
My dear brothers, please hear with rapt attention the narrations
of the pastimes that Lord Nityänanda performs with
His devotees. The pastimes of Lord Nityänanda are the abode
of all happiness. These pastimes are divided into three parts;
Ädi-khaëòa, Madhya-khaëòa and Antya-khaëòa. O Lord Gauracandra,
please give me shelter at the lotus feet of Lord Nityänanda
Prabhu, who sustains the universes as Ananta Çeña. O
dear brothers, please hear attentively the topics of Ädi-khaëòa
that describe the appearance of Lord Nityänanda.
Accepting Çré Caitanya and Çré Nityänanda as my life and
soul, I, Våndävana däsa, sing the glories of Their lotus feet.
