CHAPTER TWELVE<br />

The Marriage of Lord Nityänanda<br />

One day, Lord Nityänanda woke up early in the morning<br />

and set out for Ambikä-nagara. He took a servant with<br />

him, Uddhäraëa Datta, who was a merchant by profession and<br />

His intimate associate. When Lord Nityänanda arrived at the<br />

door of Süryadäsa Paëòita, He sent Uddhäraëa Datta inside the<br />

house. Uddhäraëa Datta went inside and informed Suryädäsa<br />

of the Lord’s arrival, and so he rushed out to greet the Lord.<br />

Falling at the feet of Nityänanda Prabhu, Süryadäsa offered<br />

his obeisances. Then, with folded hands he said, “What good<br />

fortune!”<br />

The Lord said, “I have come to you with a purpose. Please<br />

give Me your daughter’s hand in marriage.”<br />

The Paëòita knew the glories of Nityänanda Prabhu, but<br />

at that moment he forgot everything, being bewildered by the<br />

Lord’s illusory energy. “How is it possible?” the brähmaëa humbly<br />
