CHAPTER NINE
Lord Nityänanda’s Departure for Néläcala and
His Glorification by Lord Caitanya
Lord Nityänanda resided at Navadvépa, completely merged
in an ocean of prema-bhakti. He inspired everyone to
chant the holy names of the Lord so that singing and dancing
for Kåñëa’s pleasure were people’s only duties. Previously, He had
sported with the cowherd boys in every house of Gokula. Now,
Nityänanda Balaräma manifested the same Gokula pastimes by
happily performing näma-saìkértana.
Once, supremely independent Nityänanda Prabhu desired
to see Lord Caitanya and so, after taking permission from mother
Çacé, He departed for Néläcala. He traveled with His devotees
through the countryside, always overwhelmed with prema, while
singing the glories of Çré Caitanya Mahäprabhu. The devotees
danced, shouted, and cried with joy as Nityänanda Prabhu made
His way to Néläcala in ecstasy.
