Lord Nityänanda Delivers the Thieves at the House of Hiraëya Paëòita
though a person falls heavily on the ground, mother Earth again
becomes kind to him. Similarly, even if one commits offenses
at Your lotus feet, he is ultimately saved from further misery by
Your remembrance.
“O Lord, You forgive all kinds of offenses and display mercy
on the fallen souls. I am the most sinful person because I kill
brähmaëas and cows. You will not find anyone more offensive
than me. Still, even the most sinful person, if he takes shelter
of Your lotus feet, then You will liberate him without a doubt.
You protect the lives of all living beings from their very birth.
You are the ultimate deliverer of everyone. Anyone who remembers
You will be freed from ignorance and easily go back
to Godhead.”
In this way, the brähmaëa prayed to Nityänanda Prabhu
Lord Kåñëa, birth after birth. Otherwise, why did He bestow
mercy upon you like this? Who could experience such a wonderful
influence except a devotee? Lord Çré Caitanya has incarnated
to deliver all the fallen souls. There is no doubt about this.
“Listen, O brähmaëa, I will accept all your sinful reactions,
but you must not sin again. From now on, do not steal or commit
violence toward anyone. Lead a pious life by always chanting
the holy names of Lord Hari. You will then be able to deliver
others. Assemble all the plunderers and preach to them that
they should lead a pious life.”
Lord Nityänanda took off His garland and happily placed
it around the brähmaëa’s neck. Everyone loudly chanted, “Jaya!
Jaya!” The brähmaëa clutched Nityänanda Prabhu’s feet and with
a faltering voice, began to pray: “O my dear Lord Nityänanda, sav-
