ÇRÉ NITYÄNANDA CARITÄMÅTA
All the men and women floated in the happiness of
kåñëa-prema by the merciful glance of Nityänanda. His
merciful glance was so intense that everyone forgot himself
in spiritual ecstasy. By His mercy, everyone easily achieved
the love and devotion aspired to by great sages and yogés.
When a person even as big as an elephant does not eat for
three days, he will certainly become weak and hardly able
to walk. Therefore, when a child eats nothing for a month
and still behaves like a lion, it is certainly the manifestation
of Lord Nityänanda’s mercy and potency. Still, by the
illusory energy of Çré Caitanya, no one could understand
this fact.
Completely absorbed in love of God, Nityänanda Prabhu
stayed at the house of Gadädhara däsa. Gadädhara däsa was
absorbed in trance as he induced everyone to chant the holy
name of Lord Hari.
of the Lord. Fully absorbed in spiritual bliss, Gadädhara Mahäçaya
everyone was afraid. Chanting the holy names of Lord Hari, he
entered the Kazi’s house. All the guards and servants of the Kazi
saw him, but no one dared to confront him.
Gadädhara said, “Where is the Kazi? Chant the name of
Kåñëa right now or I’ll tear off all your heads.”
The Kazi came out of his room, with anger that blazed like
fire. Seeing Gadädhara däsa, however, he became somewhat
calm. The Kazi asked,
“Gadädhara, why did you come here?”
“I have something to tell you,” Gadädhara replied. “Çré Caitanya
and Çré Nityänanda Prabhu have appeared in this world
and have made everyone chant the holy name of Lord Hari.
You are the only one who has not chanted the holy name of
the Lord. This is why I have come to you. Chant now the most
auspicious holy names of Lord Hari, for they will deliver you
from all your sins.”
By nature, the Kazi was a most envious person. Becoming
stunned, he did not utter a word. The Kazi smiled and said,
