and be fully merged in the ocean of kåñëa-prema.”<br />
Saying this, Nityänanda Prabhu shouted loudly and showered<br />
love of God in all directions. Being drenched by the rain of<br />
prema, everyone fainted in ecstasy.<br />
My dear brothers, please hear about the potency of Nityänanda<br />
Prabhu whereby He awarded prema-bhakti to everyone<br />
in this world. By His mercy, everyone easily received the premabhakti<br />
of the gopés of Våndävana that is described in Çrémad-<br />
Bhägavatam.<br />
When Nityänanda sat on the golden throne, all His associates<br />
danced in front of Him. Someone climbed a tree and walked<br />
on the leaves, and yet did not fall down. Out of ecstasy, someone<br />
shouted loudly and jumped from a tree. Someone roared like a<br />
lion and caught the root of a tree, pulling it out of the ground<br />
while chanting, “Hari! Hari!” Someone went to a forest of betel<br />
nuts and gathered five or six trees together. With immense<br />
strength due to love of God, he uprooted them all.<br />
All the symptoms of love of God mentioned in Çrémad-<br />
Bhägavatam, such as the shedding of tears, becoming stunned,<br />
breathing heavily, perspiring, the standing of the hair on end,<br />
roaring loudly, the faltering of the voice, paleness, and falling<br />
unconscious were fully manifest in the bodies of everyone by<br />
the causeless mercy of Lord Nityänanda. Wherever Nityänanda<br />
Mahäçaya mercifully glanced, He showered love and devotion.<br />
Anyone Nityänanda looked upon would thus fall unconscious<br />
due to ecstatic kåñëa-prema.<br />
The devotees tried to grab hold of Nityänanda Svarüpa’s<br />
feet as He smiled, sitting on His golden throne. The Lord invested<br />
His energies in all His chief associates. They became omniscient<br />
and their statements became infallible. They appeared<br />
to be as beautiful as Cupid. Whomever they touched with their<br />
hands became overwhelmed with love of God and thus forgot<br />
everything else.<br />
Nityänanda Prabhu resided like this in the village of Pänihäöi<br />
for three months, continuing His pastimes of distributing<br />
love and devotion. For three months, all the devotees were<br />
absorbed in an ecstatic trance so that they stopped perform-<br />
