ÇRÉ NITYÄNANDA CARITÄMÅTA
“Brothers, please pick up this jewel-like personality, and
bring Him to my house,” Särvabhauma instructed the temple
guards. The guards, along with the servants of the Deities who
participated in the Päëòu-vijaya ceremony, picked up Lord Caitanya
and carried Him out of the temple to Särvabhauma’s
house. As they blissfully carried the Lord, they continually
chanted the holy names of Hari.
At that time, the devotees who had accompanied the Lord
from Navadvépa reached the Siàha-dvära (Lion Gate) at the
main entrance to the temple. They were highly astonished by
what they saw. It appeared as if ants were carrying a particle of
grain, as many people were seen happily carrying Lord Caitanya
to the home of Särvabhauma Bhaööäcärya.
After offering obeisances to Jagannätha at the main entrance,
all the devotees followed the Lord as the temple servants
brought Him to Särvabhauma’s house. As soon as the Lord was
brought inside, the temple servants locked the door. Seeing the
devotees that had come with the Lord from Navadvépa, Särvabhauma
was especially pleased. While loudly exchanging greetings
with everyone, Särvabhauma’s doubts regarding Lord Caitanya
were removed. He thus became very satisfied at heart.
Who can estimate the good fortune of Särvabhauma
Bhaööäcärya? He whose glories all the Vedas describe personally
came to his house. Seeing Nityänanda Prabhu, Särvabhauma
Mahäçaya humbly took the dust from His lotus feet. Särvabhauma
arranged a guide so that the devotees could see Lord Jagannätha.
The guide made this request of the devotees with folded
hands: “Please remain peaceful while seeing Lord Jagannätha.
Do not act like the previous Gosäi. I do not understand what
kind of people you are. If you promise to remain peaceful, only
then will I take you to see Lord Jagannätha. What can I say?
The way that sannyäsé fell to the floor—no ordinary man could
survive that! I request all of you to please see Lord Jagannätha
with utmost restraint.”
Hearing these words, all the devotees began to laugh, saying,
“Do not worry.” All the devotes then left to see Lord Jagannätha.
Thereafter, they entered the temple and saw the Lord of
the universe, the origin of the first quadruple expansion, hap-
