Lord Nityänanda Breaks Mahäprabhu’s Sannyäsa-daëòa
racandra knows the heart of Nityänanda. They are just like the
two brothers, Çré Räma and Lakñmaëa. They know each other’s
hearts.
To teach devotional service, the one Absolute Truth appeared
in two forms. We can understand Gauracandra only by
the mercy of Nityänanda Prabhu. Who is there more powerful
than Nityänanda Prabhu, who could also break the daëòa of Çré
Caitanya? Çré Gaurasundara explains all these things in some
way or other. Anyone who understands this pastime in truth is
easily delivered from material existence.
After breaking the daëòa, Nityänanda sat down peacefully.
A short time later, Jagadänanda returned. Upon seeing
the Lord’s daëòa broken into pieces, Jagadänanda became very
anxious and astonished.
“Who broke the daëòa?” Jagadänanda asked.
“He who accepted the daëòa. The Lord Himself broke
His daëòa,” Nityänanda replied. “Who else could break His
daëòa?”
Hearing this reply, Jagadänanda said nothing more. He
picked up the broken pieces of daëòa and left at once. He went
further along the road to where he found Çré Gaurasundara sitting
and placed the broken pieces before Him.
“How did the daëòa break?” The Lord asked. “You must
have quarreled with someone on the way.”
Jagadänanda Paëòita narrated the entire incident to the
Lord and said, “The one overwhelmed with grief, Nityänanda,
broke this daëòa.”
Later, Lord Caitanya asked Nityananda Prabhu, “Tell Me;
why did You break My daëòa.”
“It is true that I broke this bamboo stick. If You cannot forgive
Me, then punish Me as You like,” Nityänanda replied.
“All the demigods are present within this daëòa and yet
You call it a bamboo stick?” the Lord said.
Who can understand the pastimes of Gaurasundara? If one
understands them in a particular way, there will always remain
something unexplained. Anyone who claims to know the heart
of the Lord is certainly a great fool. If the Lord wants to kill
someone, He may apparently show him affection. He displays
