ÇRÉ NITYÄNANDA CARITÄMÅTA
At times, out of love for the Lord, Nityänanda would fall to
the ground so hard that people thought His limbs would break
into pieces. Other times, He would simply dance according to
His own sweet will. When He danced, the whole world seemed
to tremble. This is not at all astonishing for Him because He is
nondifferent from Lord Anantadeva. He has now incarnated
in this world as Lord Nityänanda. Everything is possible by the
mercy of Nityänanda Prabhu, in whose heart Lord Gauracandra
constantly resides.
Leaving Nityänanda somewhere, Jagadänanda 19 went out
for begging alms. Çré Jagadänanda had been entrusted with the
responsibility of carrying Lord Caitanya’s sannyäsa-daëòa, and
so he gave it to Nityänanda Svarüpa before departing, saying,
“Please keep the Lord’s daëòa very carefully. I am going to
beg alms and will soon return.”
Nityänanda took the daëòa from Jagadänanda and sat
down, His mind somewhat agitated. Holding the daëòa, Nityänanda
began to laugh. He then said to the daëòa, “O daëòa, it
is wrong that the Lord I carry in My heart carries you.”
Saying this, unlimitedly powerful Nityänanda Balaräma
broke the daëòa into three pieces and threw them away. Only
the Supreme Lord knows His own desires. How can I know
why Nityänanda Prabhu broke the Lord’s daëòa? Nityänanda
Prabhu knows the internal mood of Gauracandra, and Çré Gau-
19 Jagadänanda Paëòita was an associate of Gauräìga Mahäprabhu.
In his previous incarnation, he was Krñëa’s beloved queen,
Satyabhämä. In his childhood, he stayed with Çivänanda Sena and
studied Bhagavad-gétä and Çrémad-Bhägavatam under his guidance.
He also learned the art of cooking from him. Çivänanda Sena brought
Jagadänanda to Navadvépa to meet the Lord. Since the time of that
meeting, he stayed at Navadvépa and enjoyed playing and studying
with the Lord. After the Lord took sannyäsa, Jagadänanda accompanied
Him to Néläcala. At Néläcala, he established the service of Çré
Giridhäri. By the order of the Lord, he returned to Navadvépa to meet
mother Çacé. Breaking a pot of sandalwood oil, preparing the Lord’s
bed, and leaving for Våndävana were some of his wonderful loving
pastimes and services.
