CHAPTER TWO
Lord Nityänanda Breaks Mahäprabhu’s
Sannyäsa-daëòa
After meeting the devotees, Çréman Mahäprabhu departed
for Néläcala. He soon arrived on the bank of the River
Suvarëarekhä. The Lord, along with all the Vaiñëavas, bathed
in the crystal-clear water of the Suvarëarekhä, thus making the
river most glorious.
Çré Gaurasundara, the Supreme Personality of Godhead in a
humanlike form, then proceeded towards Néläcala. Nityänanda
Prabhu, accompanied by Sri Jagadänanda, walked far behind
Gaurasundara. At a short distance, Gauracandra sat down, waiting
for Nityänanda Svarüpa to join Him. Nityänanda Prabhu was
fully absorbed in ecstatic love for Çré Caitanya. All of His dealings
were like those of a madman. Sometimes He roared loudly,
and sometimes He cried. Sometimes He laughed, and sometimes
He shouted loudly. He swam in the River Suvarëarekhä and
then smeared dust all over His body.
