CHAPTER ELEVEN
Lord Gauräìga Discusses His Sannyäsa
with Lord Nityänanda
One day, as Mahäprabhu sat, surrounded by all His followers,
He suddenly uttered a wonderful word. No one
understood its meaning, and so they were astonished.
Nityänanda, however, understood the Lord’s intention; that
He would soon leave home and accept sannyäsa. Nityänanda
Prabhu became overwhelmed with lamentation, convinced that
the Lord would surely accept sannyäsa. Realizing that the Lord’s
beautiful hair would soon be cut off from His head, Nityänanda
became almost inert. After a short while, Çré Gauräìga caught
hold of Nityänanda’s hands and sat alone with Him in a secluded
place.
The Lord said, “Listen, Nityänanda. I will tell You My heart’s
desires. I descended to deliver the people of the entire world. Instead
of delivering them, I am simply destroying them. Instead
of becoming free from material bondage by seeing Me, people
are becoming more and more entangled. When they thought of
