Bienvenido en casa
EL LUJO DEL ESPACIO
Hans Günter Schwarz
We believe that the universal housing
solution is a space understood
as the physical environment in
which the bodies and movements
are located, and that is often characterized
as continuous and unlimited.
The space interpreted as
not requiring a site that is free to
be used or occupied by someone
or something. All human occupation
activities are linked to a series
of furniture and objects that facilitate
colonization of space. We
can link the activities of a person
to two types of furniture: those that
are fixed and serves people basic
needs and those that are mobile
and completely unpredictable.
This is the area of greatest potential.
The potential of a housing unit
is determined by the qualities of a
neutral space. The more generic,
more adaptable, the more adaptable,
more universal. Around
this thoughts came the idea of a
house as a void, a space with no
name. The dwelling is conceived
as a complement between full
and void. A full serving basic needs;
a void serving freedom and
individuality. The closed space is
splitted into different niches, where
all the essential services in a dwelling
can be found. The nameless
space, whith double-height, free
and empty space, has endless
possibilities for customization and
occupation.
Project development
3 different typologies that interlock to form a compact and
optimized minimal cell of 5 dwellings and a core communication
are created. This prototype is replicable in any
context, having the flexibility to accommodate urban and
geometric conditions anywhere by adding up units both
vertically and horizontally.
Terrace
The Terrace is conceived as a collective space to serve the
neighborhood and the city.
Units
Units are composed of two opposite and complementary
bodies. One, an enclosed space with habitable niches containing
the essential services in a dwelling. The other, a double-height
open, free, empty and unnamed space.
Podium
The podium is the base of the cell and the element that
complements any context in which the cell is implanted.

WHAT DOES
COHOUSING
MEAN ?
Cohousing means cohabit. It is
defined as private homes clustered
around shared spaces. Each
attached or single family home
has traditional amenities, including
a private kitchen. Shared
spaces typically feature a common
house, which may include
a large kitchen and dining area,
laundry and recreational spaces.
Shared outdoor space may
include parking, walkways, open
space, and gardens. Neighbors
also share resources
What distinguishes a cohousing
by other housing models is:
• Design and participatory
management;
• The choice of the elective
neighborhood;
• The presence of private
spaces and shared space.
A cohousing comunity not only
shares spaces but also servicies,
moments, passions and values.
The aims are to increase and
improve connection between
people, in order to create a
sense of comunity with all of the
related benefits.
