This disrespect for others, this disregard for<br />

right and justice, is not a rare thing. It is found to a<br />

greater or less extent in all our instituti<strong>on</strong>s. If <strong>on</strong>e<br />

makes a mistake, there are some who make it their<br />

business to talk about it until it grows to large<br />

proporti<strong>on</strong>s. Instead of this, there should be in all<br />

engaged in our instituti<strong>on</strong>s a sacred principle to<br />

guard the interest and reputati<strong>on</strong> of every<strong>on</strong>e with<br />

whom they are associated, even as they would wish<br />

their own reputati<strong>on</strong> guarded.<br />

Results of Fostered Sin<br />

The str<strong>on</strong>gest bulwark of vice in our world is<br />

not iniquitous life of the aband<strong>on</strong>ed sinner or the<br />

degraded outcast; it is that life which otherwise<br />

appears virtuous, h<strong>on</strong>orable, and noble, but in<br />

which <strong>on</strong>e sin is fostered, <strong>on</strong>e vice indulged. To the<br />

soul that is struggling in secret against some giant<br />

temptati<strong>on</strong>, trembling up<strong>on</strong> the very verge of the<br />

precipice, such an example is <strong>on</strong>e of the most<br />

powerful enticements to sin. He who, endowed<br />

with high c<strong>on</strong>cepti<strong>on</strong>s of life and truth and h<strong>on</strong>or,<br />
