We need a c<strong>on</strong>stant sense of the ennobling<br />

power of pure thoughts. The <strong>on</strong>ly security for any<br />

soul is right thinking. As a man “thinketh in his<br />

heart, so is he.” The power of self-restraint<br />

strengthens by exercise. That which at first seems<br />

difficult, by c<strong>on</strong>stant repetiti<strong>on</strong> grows easy, until<br />

right thoughts and acti<strong>on</strong>s become habitual. If we<br />

will, we may turn away from all that is cheap and<br />

inferior, and rise to a higher standard; we may be<br />

respected by men, and beloved of God.—The<br />

instituti<strong>on</strong>s and seeing where work is not d<strong>on</strong>e to<br />

the best advantage, should, if they have had larger<br />

experience, and know of a more successful way to<br />

manage, counsel with those who are in trust and<br />

seek to help them to see the right way of acti<strong>on</strong>.<br />

Those who fail to do this neglect their duty, and are<br />

unfaithful to their God-given resp<strong>on</strong>sibility. Such<br />

an <strong>on</strong>e, if he goes from that instituti<strong>on</strong> without<br />
