A return to simpler methods will be appreciated<br />

by the children and youth. Work in the garden and<br />

field will be an agreeable change from the<br />

wearisome routine of abstract less<strong>on</strong>s to which the<br />

young minds should never be c<strong>on</strong>fined. To the<br />

nervous child or youth, who finds less<strong>on</strong>s from<br />

books exhausting and hard to remember, it will be<br />

especially valuable. There is health and happiness<br />

for him in the study of nature; and the impressi<strong>on</strong>s<br />

made will not fade out of his mind, for they will be<br />

associated with objects that are c<strong>on</strong>tinually before<br />

All the powers of the mind should be called into<br />

use and developed, in order for men and women to<br />

have well-balanced minds. The world is full of<br />

<strong>on</strong>e-sided men and women, who have become such<br />

because <strong>on</strong>e set of their faculties was cultivated,<br />

while others were dwarfed from inacti<strong>on</strong>. The<br />

educati<strong>on</strong> of most youth is a failure. They<br />
