General information<br />

Refer to the front of this manual for general test conditions,<br />

terminology, detailed descriptions of wiring faults <strong>and</strong> a<br />

general trouble shooter for electrical <strong>and</strong> mechanical faults.<br />

<strong>Trouble</strong> codes are displayed by the 'OID OFF' warning lamp.<br />

Accessing<br />

Switch ignition ON.<br />

Check operation of 'OlD OFF' lamp.<br />

Switch the OID switch on the gear lever to ON.<br />

Check that 'OID OFF' lamp extinguishes.<br />

Bridge data link connector (DLC) terminals El <strong>and</strong> TEI.<br />

+1996: El. I996 +: 0.<br />

If no trouble codes are stored, the lamp will flash twice per<br />

second O.<br />

Each trouble code consists of two groups of one or more<br />

flashes<br />

[A].<br />

Warning lamp flash duration: 0,5 second rn [B].<br />

A 0,5 second pause separates each flash rn [C].<br />

A 1,5 second pause separates each trouble code group rn [Dl.<br />

A 2,5 second pause separates each trouble code [El.<br />

For example: Four 0,5 second flashes - 1,5 second<br />

pause - two 0,5 second flashes. <strong>Trouble</strong> code 42<br />

displayed rn - vehicle speed sensor (VSS) 1.<br />

<strong>Trouble</strong> codes are repeated 4,5 seconds after last trouble<br />

code.<br />

Count warning lamp flashes. Compare with trouble code<br />

table.<br />

Remove bridge wire.<br />

Switch ignition OFF.<br />

Rectify faults as necessary.
