Normal mode<br />

Switch ignition ON.<br />

Bridge data link connector (DLC) terminals El <strong>and</strong> TEI (T).<br />

-+1990: 0. 1990-+: 8.<br />

If no trouble codes are stored, the lamp will flash twice per<br />

second H.<br />

Each trouble code consists of two groups of one or more<br />

flashes H [A].<br />

Warning lamp flash duration: 0,5 second H [B].<br />

A 0,5 second pause separates each flash H [C].<br />

A 1,5 second pause separates each trouble code group H [Dl.<br />

A 2,5 second pause separates each trouble code H [El.<br />

For example: Two 0,5 second flashes - 1 3 second<br />

pause - one 0,5 second flash. <strong>Trouble</strong> code 21 displayed<br />

H - heated oxygen sensor (H02S).<br />

<strong>Trouble</strong> codes are repeated 4 3 seconds after last trouble<br />

code.<br />

Count MIL flashes. Note trouble codes. Compare with<br />

trouble code table.<br />

Remove bridge wire.<br />

Switch ignition OFF.<br />

Rectify faults as necessary.<br />

Test mode 1994-+<br />

Switch ignition OFF.<br />

Bridge data link connector (DLC) terminals El <strong>and</strong> TE2 8.<br />

Switch ignition ON.<br />

Ensure malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) flashes four times<br />

per second.<br />

Start engine.<br />

Drive vehicle at over 6 mph (10 kmlh) to meet conditions of<br />

customer complaint.<br />

Stop vehicle. Do not switch ignition OFF.<br />

With data link connector (DLC) terminals El <strong>and</strong> TE2<br />

bridged, bridge terminals El <strong>and</strong> TEI 8.<br />

Count MIL flashes. Note trouble codes. Compare with<br />

trouble code table.<br />

Switch ignition OFF.<br />

Remove bridge wires.<br />

Rectify faults as necessary.<br />

NOTE: <strong>Codes</strong> 42 <strong>and</strong> 43 may be produced if this procedure is<br />

NOT carried out correctly. Code 51 will be produced<br />

during this procedure <strong>and</strong> can be ignored.
