opportunity to learn new skills
or build on existing talents. We
foster discovery and exploration,
and encourage students to enjoy
themselves in a safe, supportive
environment.
Our classes are small, so each child
receives one-on-one instruction and
personalized assistance. There are
many classes from which to choose,
so your child can look forward to
fun and exciting experiences at
SummerPrep. Make it a summer your
child will remember for a lifetime!

Classes are available during both three-week sessions, unless otherwise noted
in course description. Classes are not sequential.
Students may not have a gap in their schedule – there are no “free” periods
allowed during the day. SummerPrep campers arriving before 1st period may
join Before Care. Once afternoon camps have ended, students may come to
After Care. A daily snack will be served in the late afternoon.
Please sign up in advance for Extended Care (i.e. Before Care and/or After
Care) for one or more weeks at a time. Payment is due at the start of the week:
$10 per week for Before Care and $20 per week for After Care. After Care
ends promptly at 5:45 p.m. and there will be a late pickup fee ($1 per minute).

Should a child not be able to attend

Dismissal from SummerPrep
Students are expected to behave according to well-accepted principles of
behavior. SummerPrep has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to bullying. The
SummerPrep Director reserves the right to dismiss any student at any time. Refunds
will not be granted should a child be dismissed from SummerPrep.

Extended Care
The regular day at SummerPrep begins at 8:10
a.m. and ends at 3:45 p.m. Before Care and After
Care, which are available for an additional cost,
will extend the student’s day from as early as 7:30
a.m. until as late as 5:45 p.m. Before Care helps
students get settled in the morning and ready for
their classes. If your student needs to extend the
day after the Afternoon Camp concludes, you may
sign up for After Care, which includes an afternoon
snack. The After Care program will have separate
areas for students according to age groups so your
child can participate in games and activities with
others of a similar age. All students must be picked
up by 5:45 p.m. If parents are late to pick up
students, an additional late pickup fee will apply
($1 per minute after 5:45 p.m.). Prices are for one
full week; pro-rating is not available.

Travel beyond the book and go on a reading

Ever wonder why a Triceratops had horns, or why a
T-Rex had such tiny arms? Then enter the world of
the prehistoric, learn about the beasts of the past,
and become a paleontologist-in-training.

Come Play & Learn!
For a safe and fun summer experience, choose
Come Play & Learn! Children will discover the
world through their senses with water and sand
tables, become authors and illustrators, and
develop as artists with watercolors, easel paints,
and clay. All of this plus making new friends,
reading stories, spending time outside – an
exciting day of exploration and fun doing what kids
do best – PLAY! Age-appropriate groupings will
help ensure an engaging experience. Counselors
will also escort children from Come Play & Learn!
to and from their period 1 - 4 classes. Come Play
& Learn! will be the younger children’s “home
base” and will provide our youngest campers with
a sense of community, fun, and friendship. Children

Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories, Disney’s
The Little Mermaid JR. is an enchanting look at the

What do you have in common with an earthworm

an organic garden, using Sandia Prep’s established
learning garden and orchard as our classroom.
Through active participation in the physical work
necessary to cultivate a garden, learn soil science,
botany, entomology, nutrition, and the general
principles of organic gardening. Your efforts will be
rewarded with nutritious snacks prepared from our
harvest. Each week, we’ll hone our marketing skills
as we sell our produce at the Sandia Prep growers
market. From seed to market, discover where your
food comes from, every step of the way.

Space Exploration
Become a space explorer! A trip to the moon will
be the first stop on your travels, and then move
on to visit the stars and constellations. Comets,
craters, asteroids, and galaxies, including our very
own Milky Way, are on the horizon. We may even

(hope they’re friendly)!

Star Wars: Jedi Training
May the Force be with you as you embark on an
epic adventure and learn about Star Wars! Learn
about the history of Star Wars from about the rise
of the Empire, to the Clone Wars, and the start
of the Jedi Counsel. A strong Jedi must know
the basics of engineering behind ships, droids,
and light sabers, and understand different alien
species. By the end of the three weeks you will be
well on your way to becoming a Jedi.

Our youth basketball camp is designed to teach
future basketball stars the fundamentals of
the sport. The students will work on dribbling,
footwork, passing, and of course shooting.

Join us as we dodge, dip, duck, and dive through
the game of dodgeball. Using foam balls, you will
hone your throwing, aiming, and dodging skills on
teams grouped by grade level.

GOOOOALLLL! What better time than summer
to learn to play soccer or practice your skills! In
this class we will do drills and learn and practice
the fundamentals of the game. We’ll work on

Ever wish you could master the bow and arrow
like Katniss or Hawkeye? Now’s your chance! This
class will teach shooting techniques for target
archery. Students will learn about the equipment

to hit right on target.

Afternoon Sports Camp
For older students interested in sports and fitness,
this camp will help improve athletic skills, overall
physical fitness and endurance. This program will
incorporate aerobics, plyometrics, and appropriate
strength training for the participant. In addition
to skills training, students will work together in a
team setting, playing a game utilizing consistent
skills and good-natured competition. Students
are welcome to attend weekly or throughout the
entire SummerPrep program.

Do you have a passion for debate? Experience
the thrill of the courtroom in SummerPrep’s Law
Camp. Over the course of a week our Law Camp
will help future lawyers, judges, and politicians
gain an understanding of the law and how our
court system works. Learn about our Constitution
and laws through fun and engaging games and
exercises. Put your debate and public speaking
skills to use by holding your very own mock trial.
Master courtroom techniques, from opening
and closing statements to examining and cross
examining witnesses. The Honorable Judge Frank
Sedillo will teach the course.
