176 Hardware Maintenance Manual 5. Disconnect the flat cable from the rear of the failing diskette drive. 6. Connect the flat cable to the new diskette drive. 7. Remove the lock bracket from the drive being replaced and install it on the new drive. 8. Install the new diskette drive into the bay and slide it to the locked position. 9. Go to “Completing the FRU replacement” on page 179.
Replacing the fan assembly This procedure describes how to remove and replace the fan. 1. Open the computer cover. See “Opening the cover” on page 154. 2. Pivot the drive-bay assembly upward to gain access to the fan assembly. 3. Disconnect the fan cable, power switch or LED cable, and temperature sensor cable from the system board. See “System board connectors” on page 153. Note: Make sure you note the location of the fan cables when you disconnect the cables from the system board. Chapter 10.
