CANADA 6030 CFVP Calgary at 1148 UT with Country music, 1150 UT "AM 10-60" ID. Poor-fair with co-channel QRM. 6160 CKZU Vancouver at 1144 UT with BBC's "The Strand" arts program. Good. (Harold Sellers-BC-CAN, DXplorer July 20) Sackville mixing products. Right now at 0108 UT JUly 18, I am hearing Radio Sweden on 6010 kHz and Voice of Vietnam on 6175 kHz, both from Sackville and 165 kHz away from each other. I am also hearing their mixing products. Radio Sweden is audible on 6175 + 165 kHz, or 6340 kHz. Voice of Vietnam is on the lower image frequency of 5845 kHz. (Rik van Riel-NY-USA, hcdx July 18) CANADA [COSTA RICA - probably from CTR site] 9489.92 odd signal of Radio Republica in Spanish, on July 21, 0000 UT. From Costa Rica too ? Spanish phone in, very smallband phone line audio, only 3 kHz or less, S=9+15 dB here in Germany. In background warbling jamming sound from Cuba. Probably via former Faro del Caribe, San Jose site ? Or is the former CIA, then UNR TIRWR Cahuita site reactivated? see UNR site at Google Maps (wb, wwdxc BC-DX TopNews July 20-21) Rather CANADA: 9490 kHz Republica has been overtly via Sackville: 9490kHz 2300-0200 UT 11 SAC 100kW 227deg Mon-Fri CAN RMI RCI And I think Sackville is quite capable of running 80 Hertz off frequency. Usually very strong signals from RR on 9490 kHz, surely not little Costa Rican transmitters. (Glenn Hauser-OK-USA, dxld July 21) Thanks Glenn. CHINA CRI English service has improved in speaker sound, a handful of new locutors origin from the Western World, with British like BBC, NZL/AUS like R Australia, and US Maine-NY accent. Noted 7420 CRI English tonight and thought first - it was Radio Australia program. (wb, wwdxc BC-DX TopNews July 20) [TIBET - Xizang] 7240 (Xizang Chinese channel), reported as silent, is not so. Is and has been a regular at my location. The westerly beam of this one and 7385 kHz gives good reception here. (Olle Alm-SWE, wwdxc BC-DX TopNews July 23) Firedrake bandscan July 15: none at all found 19-8 MHz - between 1305 and 1310 UT. Firedrake July 16: 14700, JBA at 1255. No others found 8-18 MHz. However, 15285, at 1256 July 16, open carrier, 1257 B-B-C- chimes IS in the clear, so I stayed tuned to hear the jamming start.
