'hard up' of functioning antennas towards North America from Europe. Old
friends on the southwards Balcan in Bulgaria and Albania are now
independent. And to lease powerful TCI antenna at Sitkunai-Lithuania, may
avoided by injured Russian ego, but renting fares on latter are much
higher and doubled recently at LTU.
(wb, wwdxc BC-DX TopNews June 2)
A bit down the page the second table, "Liste der Senderstandorte" ("list
of transmitter sites"). The first table has not been updated so far, but
this one has, with 11655 quickly added at the bottom. And it clearly says
"Lwow".
What should perhaps be explained, too: "Very same transmitter" than 7440
because usually the newest one, finished around 1992, is in use at Krasne.
They have a second one from 1972, but reportedly they do not use it for
regular operation at present, since never more than one frequency is on
air since 2007, after nothing was on air at all between 2002 and 2007.
Another musing: So it's not just about 7440, since at least one further
transmission (perhaps even further ones have been added and are just not
known yet) for VOR started. Looks indeed as if RRT, the organization in
charge for the broadcasting transmitters in the Ukraine, actively offered
the transmitter to VOR.
Thanks to Sergei - Another SW change ... is that VoR German can be heard
from 0900-1000 on 11655 via Lvov-Krasne-UKR. [in past decade mostly from
Moscow 15455 kHz]
(Sergei Sosedkin, dxld)
Yes, powerful S=9+45dB signal noted today at 0910 UT.
See
http://german.ruvr.ru/radio_broadcast/frequenzen/
shows location Lwow Krasne in Ukraine
but
http://english.ruvr.ru/radio_broadcast/schedule/
shows only new 7440 kHz, but no location Lvov Krasne.
Here is my log of proper stations heard here in 0900-1000 UT slot June 6th
in southwestern Germany.
11645 AVL S=9+10dB
11655 LV-UKR S=9+45dB
11740 SMG S=9+30dB
11830 GAL S=9+35dB
11995 SIN S=9+25dB
12020 LIS S=9+20dB
12060 MSK S=9+20dB
... Has VOR axually reached a deal with the new pro-Russian Uke government
to use the Lviv transmitter, just like the good old Soviet days? As
Wolfgang Bueschel also speculates, this could be a temporary measure to
keep the transmitter site in business if RUI itself can not afford to use
it.
