(Olle Alm-SWE, wwdxc BC-DX TopNews May 15) CHINA Voice of Shangri La on 6035 kHz. I've been monitoring this with fair to poor reception (via Global Tuners Hong Kong rx), from as early as 0945 UT on May 15 and as late as 1305 UT on May 14, with programming in Mandarin and Vietnamese. Some TOH ID's are in Vietnamese and English rather than Mandarin and English. According to Yunnan PBS website (ynradio.net)this is primarily an external service and broadcasts for five hours a day, three hours in Vietnamese and two in Mandarin, using 50 kW on this sole frequency (from my observations, transmission time seems to be 0900-1400 UT). There's also an FM service of the same name, on 99.0 MHz in Kunming and other FM frequencies (listed on the site) elsewhere, it's one of the seven live audio streams available on their website. not observed in // with the shortwave frequency. There are audio clips of IDs for both these and seven other Yunnan PBS services available on the Interval Signals Online website - intervalsignals.net (Dave Kernick-UK, BrDXC-UK, May 15) COSTA RICA 5954.15 ELCOR. Heard after 0200 UT with good signal and moderate splatter from 5960 kHz playing Shakira songs as usual. Bet Mana songs are the alternative, altho I quit listening. No signal when I recheck near 0300 UT. Still a mistery in this small country. Once someone told is situated in Guapiles, canton de Pococi, provincia de Limon, and there is a political party involved on this. Time will reveal. All three nights the frequency is right on 5954.200 kHz on the G313e. There was a sign off announcement last night mentioning a test transmission which I had at 0357 UT. The s/off was so obscured by QRM from Sackville and Okeechobee that it was pretty useless. Tonight there was Spanish heavy metal until 0234 UT, then a transition with a pleasant vocal which I believe was on about the same time all four nights to mellow trans national Latin ballads (the kind of music my Venezuelan and Colombian friends living here listen to.) After 0245 UT there is industrial music, one probably in English. (I find this music hard to hear the vocals in any language.) The party is still going strong at 0307 UT.
