telecoms authorities is useless. Also the "problem" is not the problem of ITU Zone 1. My urgent demand goes to Peter Young VK3MV asking him to contact LaTrobe University, WIA and the Australian telecoms. authorities ACMA. Immediate action is necessary! Fraternally yours, Uli Bihlmayer, Vice Coordinator of IARU-MS Region 1, Dec 22. DJ9KR noted: this evening all 3 TIGER RADARS are active at the same time: Bruny, Tasmania at 1926 - 1928 UTC: Beams used 1, 11, 14 Frequencies used: 40 10 frequencies inside range 10100 - 10150 kHz. Unwin A, New Zealand at 1930 - 1932 UTC: Beams used 7, 12, 15 all frequencies in Band 10, but higher than 10295 kHz. Unwin B, New Zealand at 1932 - 1934 UTC: Beams used 7, 12, 15 all frequencies in Band 10, but higher than 10260 kHz. I have read the beams and the frequencies on the homepage of Tiger La Trobe Radar. I could NOT hear the radar in DL. This is for your information. Regards, Uli, DJ9KR IARU-MS Region 1 (Dec 23) At this time of year, for the past three years, there appear to be only two spots from EU of VK7s in the hour before 2000 UT. But a lot of spots around 2030 UT. Maybe VK7s don't get up early, or the band is more likely to be open (or perhaps a little of both). 1930 UT may have been a little early to hear the TIGER from DL. Yes, the ZL TIGER is on a similar prowl, if you watch long enough, you will see it covers the range 10200-10600 kHz. I have not watched both VK7 & ZL simultaneously long enough to see if the two radars try to use 10200 at the same time, though I have seen both of them take turns using it. Note how the two radars are otherwise segregated from each other. I wonder why? Also note that the ZL TIGER covers 4x the spectrum than VK7. It's a "stereo" radar (A & B are separate channels, which means they use separate frequencies), but I have yet to see other than the same frequency displayed by both. Both also always display the same "noise" number, perhaps something based on receiving & we might expect to see at least some least-significant-digit differences between the two, even if both channels were on the same frequency. Much seems to be made about Unwin's stereo capability, so is strange that doesn't appear to be used yet the radar is moving about far enough that the two channels would not step on each other based on the mono VK7's 100 kc span. Anyway, the interesting thing from all this is that the TIGERs are kept away from each other. One might have thought that the mechanism for avoiding causing interference to others would be good enough to keep the TIGERs out of each other's hair. file:///Z|/DOKUMENTATION-BULLETINS/WWDXD-BCDX/2010/BCDX947.TXT[11.06.2012 10:39:47]
