morning transmission: 0300 UT on 6055, 7300 and 11790 kHz (all jammed). VOA Amharic evening transmission (1800-1900 UT) is now on nine (!!) frequencies: 9620 11520 11905 11925 11975 12140 13835 13870 15730 kHz. (Chris Greenway-UK, dxld Apr 20/21) 7090 is Radio Ethiopia ex 7110 and is // to 9704.3 kHz. This transmitter is used to jam VOA Amharic at 1800-1900 UTC and they return to 7 MHz around 1920 UT. Ethiopia acquired a state of the art jamming set up from China. They are very good at it and jam Amharic, Oromo and Tigrigna transmissions. Hier eine Meldung aus Kenia Ostafrika von 0800 UT. (wb) QRG 7160 kHz. There is a strong broadcast, music and speech, which is either Ethiopian or Eritrean, at 0800Z this morning 22nd April. Einige haben zwar den Frequenzbereich wieder verlassen; doch am 12. April tauchte dort Radio Kuwait auf und war gleich auf zwei Frequenzen (7150 / 7190) mit S=9+30 dB zu hoeren. Nach Beschwerdebriefen vieler Bandwachten an ihre Fernmeldebehoerde und Telefonanrufen von Faisal, 9K2RR, bei Radio Kuwait sind beide Frequenzen seit dem 19. April wieder frei. Am 15. April war Radio Eritrea mit mehreren Frequenzen im 40-m-Band aktiv, die alle // liefen: auf 7140, 7165, 7175 und 7185 kHz. Die Frequenzen wurden laufend gewechselt, um den Stoerungen der Aethiopier durch weisses Rauschen auszuweichen. Selbst auf 7090 und 7095 kHz ist Radio Aethiopien nun manchmal zu hoeren, vermutlich um dort die Sendungen der "Stimme der Breiten Massen" zu stoeren. It has been considered to keep the transmitter on air at reduced power, but the operational costs would still be too high to justify it. As a gesture of appreciation the 200 listeners will be invited to a exclusive visit.
