Meyer's personal project. WMLK didn't really have a the serious support base among the traditional Christian churches. Assemblies of Yahweh being a minor splinter group. I don't want to sound negative but I cannot imagine the station ever returning on the air without Meyer's involvement ... I wonder what is going to happen to that "BBC 250 kW [transmitting] unit". The watered-down history of the station is found here: (Sergei, dxld April 13) The obituary, with a nice portrait, mentions WMLK shortwave only in passing among his greater accomplishments. The website does not yet have the obit, with Elder still greeting us on the home page. We suspect this may further set back the reconstruxion of WMLK which has been off the air for years. But perhaps he will eventually become another active post-mortem shortwave broadcaster? The website has a lot of photos and info about the antenna damage, and also of the 2009 Winter SWL Fest among other things. (Glenn Hauser-OK-USA, dxld April 12) While shortly after sign-on April 8 at 1510 UT, KVOH 17775 kHz spurs were audible as noise blobs, plus and minus 145 kHz, at next check 2031 UT they were much stronger and tho extremely distorted on 17920 and 17630 kHz, music modulation and the beat matched fundamental. 17775 kHz hit at least S9+25, tho at the high end of the scale it's not accurately calibrated on the FRG-7. 15550-USB, WJHR very weakly audible with you know what, April 9 at 1404 UT, shortly faded out. Was benefiting from sporadic E opening, which did WWCR 15825 kHz a lot more good. Usual distinctive drums at 0301 UT then into presumed news fading out. Weak but frequency is clear throughout. Freitag bis Sonntag wird uns Tibor Szilagyi, der Generalsekretaer des Europaeischen DX Council EDXC besuchen. Er kommt fuer den RMRC-Besuch extra aus Schweden und wird uns erklaeren, warum es den EDXC gibt, welche Aufgaben er hat und was er uns DXern bringt. Den EDXC-Kritikern, von denen es wohl auch in der Liste einige gibt, bietet sich die Gelegenheit, dem derzeitigen EDXC-Generalsecretaer persoenlich Fragen zu stellen und ihm auf den Zahn zu fuehlen. Am Freitag 23.4. besucht der RMRC Radio Andernach. (Anmeldung erforderlich!) Samstag am Sa. 24.4.
