SHETLAND ISLANDS 14101.000 at 0930 UT, R1ANF, thanks Raycroft tip in DXLD, noted with very weak signal. Rarely even moving the S-Meter but making it to S9 on peaks. Had to listen through several ID cycles to get this. Wonder if the propagation is via the Southern Ocean, Indian Ocean, or over Antarctica? (I'm guessing this is long path via the Indian Ocean.) 2 April. (David Sharp-NSW-AUS, hcdx April 15) SLOVAK REP Radio City Relay on 9515 kHz via Rimavska Sobota. Well those are just old registrations carried on for A-10 season. I can assure you that 90% of those are not used, other than for 7200 kHz. 4S7VK (Victor A. (Rumen Pankov-BUL, wwdxc BC-DX TopNews April 10) Sri Lankan national broadcaster SLBC has started relaying BBC World radio on FM band. The relaying starts the BBC English, Sinhala and Tamil programmes after a 14 month break. The BBC suspended its rebroadcast in February last year. The BBC programmes were suspended in February last year "following deliberate interference in its broadcasts," BBC said in a statement. During the suspension, the BBC's services in all three languages remained available in Sri Lanka via short wave; on bbc.com/news, bbcsinhala.com and bbctamil.com via the Internet; and news bulletins in English via the Sri Lankan commercial broadcaster MBC. Director of BBC Global News Peter Horrocks said that the BBC wishes to rebuild its partnership with SLBC. "We have been reassured by SLBC that our contractual agreement will be respected, which guarantees that our programmes in English, Sinhala, and Tamil are broadcast uninterrupted," he said. Mr. Horrocks added that the BBC audiences value the editorial intergrity of its programming. "Our audiences understand that in order to cover news events in the most file:///Z|/DOKUMENTATION-BULLETINS/WWDXD-BCDX/2010/BCDX960.TXT[11.06.2012 10:40:02]

(David Sharp-NSW-AUS, hcdx April 15) TUNISIA DX Mix News, Bulgaria, just published the A-10 schedule of RTT, including 7275 kHz at 0500-0730 and 7335 at 0700-0830 UT. Based on previous experience I found this questionable, and sure enough, April 9 at 0550 check, both 7275 and 7335 kHz were on in //, Arabic music, 0600 both into Arabic talk, 0601 Akbar; the lower one stronger, but both rather poor unlike pre-magstorm and in the B-season when they were a great source of easily-listenable nightmiddle music. DX Mix info must be from imaginary HFCC registrations. We need to monitor the *axual* opening and closing times of these and all other RTT frequencies, the other morning ones being 12005 and 9725 kHz; evening 12005, 9725, 7345, 7225 kHz. (Glenn Hauser-OK-USA, dxld April 9) The 0626-0627 UT closing of 7275 kHz is exactly the same time as in Bseason, as I reconfirmed several times by monitoring; it did not vary more than one minute as if controlled by a timer, interrupting whatever programming was in progress, and I think 0805v UT also for 7335 kHz as per your monitoring, right? So perhaps there has really been no change in the A-season. (gh) Monitoring RTT this Sunday morning - the 11th - I heard 7275 kHz stop broadcasting during a musical item and the transmitter off almost immediately at 0626 UT. Meanwhile, parallel 7335 kHz didn't go off until 0*8*05 UT. So was the latter a mistake or for real? Yes, this is what it is looking like. On Sunday the 11th March I heard 9725 and 12005 kHz open at 1556 UT, 7225 came up at 1656 UT, and 7345 at 1856 UT - all at four minutes to the hour. Carrier only for a short time before then. I could not hear 9725 and 12005 kHz at re-check 2015 UT or 7225 kHz at re-check 2115 UT, but 7345 kHz was still on, although badly QRMed - by CRI in Italian I think. All frequencies suffer some co-ch QRM despite being registered. Today the 12th, 7275 kHz again went off suddenly at 0626 UT and 7345 kHz at 0806 UT. So all of these timings approximate the B-09 schedule. And it does seem that a timer is in use now instead of a man(ual) system. Glenn - from past experience the sign-on/off times will vary by minutes each day, so the times quoted will be an approximation of what is intended rather than what actually happens. As we know, the same applies to Jordan, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia when we are sometimes 'allowed' to hear part of a unscheduled broadcast on a particular frequency. This is different to Iran which can be heard at times broadcasting in a language that is not scheduled at that time, only to find that it will drop off air part way file:///Z|/DOKUMENTATION-BULLETINS/WWDXD-BCDX/2010/BCDX960.TXT[11.06.2012 10:40:02]
