Time pips at 0600 UT and off. Poor, weak in noisy conditions at sign on
but improved to a fair signal quality by 0310 UT.
15670 Miraya FM, *1400-1540+, Feb 19, sign on with local Afro-pop music.
Arabic talk. IDs. English news at 1502 UT. Local pop music at 1512 UT.
Back to English at 1520 UT with talk about upcoming local Sudanese
elections. Promos for HIV-AIDS protection. Canned IDs. Fair to good
signal.

SOLOMON ISLANDS/VANUATU "G'day Patrick. Thanks for your reception
report. I can confirm that you have heard us on 5020 kHz, unfortunately
our transmitter blew up the frequency driver circuit and one of the valves
so it is off air at the moment. We are working on restoring services ASAP.

I have just heard Radio Vanuatu on the new frequency of 5054.97m kHz,
noted with very good signals at 0715 UT on 19 Febr with talk in Pidgin
about a cyclone. Running // to usual 3945 kHz which was slightly better
reception.
There was nothing on 5055 kHz when I did a 60 metre bandscan at 0600 UT,
and I focussed on logging Radio Apinte 4990 kHz until rechecking the
frequency just now.

Radio Vanuatu Second Shortwave Transmitter on Air. Thanks Bryan's tip,
checking for this at 1005 UT on a computer receiver in Australia. Untraced
on 5054 kHz but nice signal on 3945 kHz with news in Pidgin read by man
and an ID within a minute of tuning in.

Bryan, - your neighbour Steve White is the RNZ transmitter specialist and
is on repairing t o u r to Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands at present.
Also Solomons 5020v kHz noted at 0900 UT Feb 19 with usual signals
strength again.

SIBC is back on 5020 kHz. Usual strength at 0900 UT. SIBC on 5019.96 kHz
received from 0800 UT on Feb 19 by many Japanese DXer. Condition is good.
I confirm that 5055 kHz of R. Vanuatu s/off at 1000 UT on Feb 19. The
condition was poor by QRM of Chinese OTH, here in Japan.
