CUBA Transmission of RHC's 2030-2130 UT English broadcast is still
irregular and problematic. Sat Feb 13 at 2114 UT check, nothing but
Spanish on 11730, 11760, 11770, 11800 kHz, lo-fi interview with a
revolutionary veteran? Dog barking in background, no DXers Unlimited.
17705 Feb 13 at 2057 UT upwrapping RNV relay with IS iterations and off.
But back on with weaker signal at 2235 UT, poor in French with RHC mid-ID
during Journal Parle about Afghanistan.
This semihour is on the schedule as Guarani, but French has been
substituting, since as we all know, there are oodles of people who
understand both. Does RHC really have any living Guarani-workers on its
meagre payroll?
Calling a radio newscast a "spoken newspaper" seems rather archaic, but
also occurs in Castilian as "diario hablado". Are they admitting they are
just reading directly from a newspaper? Radio/TV require material to be
rewritten in a different more conversational style; broadcast journalism
101.
Greetings from Lourdes Lopez.
Hello OM's, This letter came in by mail today. It states that Lourdes
Lopez from Radio Havana, Cuba, is retired as of now. Lourdes Lopez
answered al listeners letters and mails to RHC for the past years and did
it well.
(although sometimes it took al long time)
I wish her well and hope she may spent her coming years in good health
with her family.
Greetings from Lourdes Lopez
"YEAR 52 OF THE REVOLUTION."
Dear Friend: May I get in touch with you once again to say hello and
inform you that I've retired, so now I'll be able to spend more time with
my grandchildren.
I want to tell you that, one of the greatest pleasures in my lifetime is
to have worked in Radio Havana Cuba for more than 40 years and
particularly, to have been in regular contact with you, esteemed listeners
and friends.
I'm retiring but I'm happy because the group I leave behind share similar
feelings and the privilege of communicating with the friends of Cuba in
every continent. The new Head of the Department is Rosario Lafita
Fernandez, with 30 years of experience in the job, who will continue the
beautiful work I've done with so much love.
