ITALY 1512 Ondamedia Broadcast is a new Italian MW station. The Mosfet
transmitter has a power of 600 W but currently its output is limited to
350-400 W into a vertical 1/8 wave antenna. In the coming future the
ground system will be improved, with more radial wires. The transmitting
site is San Pietro in Casale, between Bologna and Ferrara (northern
Italy). At present the station is operating from 0700 to 2330 hours local
time [in winter 0600-2230 UT].
The letterhead indicates also a frequency of 1503 kHz, possibly for the
announced future DRM transmissions. Programs will be of local nature, with
music, news and cultural contents. The head of the station is Roberto

In the next few months the 600 watt transmitter will move to 1503 kHz. A
1200 watt transmitter will be used for 1512 kHz, probably with a new
vertical 1/4 antenna. And according to the station owner, they are on the
air 24h and not 0700-2330 LT. But that is something I cannot verify from

ITALY {ITALIAN SOCIAL REPUBLIC} (Historical): Glenn, I can confirm that
the Italian fascists broadcast from Munich{Ismaning}, following
Mussolini's rescue from imprisonment by German special forces. There was
also for a time a 'black' version of this service run by the British in
order to create confusion amongst fascist supporters.
The Munich broadcasts were reported in the BBC Monitoring Service bulletin
"Daily Digest of Foreign Broadcasts", which is available in a number of UK
libraries. I think the Munich broadcasts were a stop-gap measure by which
Mussolini, by then virtually a German puppet, could get his message across
to the probably small number of Italians who still suported him.
Eventually, though, the Mussolini regime was able to resume broadcasting
on Italian soil from the so-called "Italian Social Republic" (also known
as the Salo Republic).
The above-mentioned BBC publication confirms that there was a foreign
service on shortwave from Mussolini's rump "republic". Interestingly, one
of the shortwave services was a clandestine station known as Radio
Himalaya (or Himalayas), which broadcast to India in Indian languages and
English and claimed to speak for an Indian liberation movement. This
"station" had previously broadcast from Rome and was run by an Indian
Moslem revolutionary known as Iqbal Shedai.

More on the British 'black' version of the pro-Mussolini broadcasts from
Munich Ismaning. Sefton Delmer, who was in charge of the operation, writes
