Critical Thinking at Clifton Lodge
At Clifton Lodge we believe
that education is more than
just learning the right answers.
We want our pupils to be
independent thinkers and have
introduced Critical Thinking
classes for our pupils from Year
4 to 7 as part of their weekly
curriculum. These classes
include logic problems, both
literacy and numeracy based and
debating. The benefits of Critical
Thinking include:
• Children are empowered with
the tools to think for themselves
such as perseverance and
looking at problems from
different angles.
• Improving Children’s reasoning
skills, through class debate.
• Teaching children to listen to
other opinions, whether they
agree or disagree.
• Enhancing Pupil skills in
expressing themselves which
are life skills needed for senior
school interviews, and beyond.
• Supporting verbal and nonverbal
curriculum lessons.
This forms part of our overall
plan to address more than just
the traditional subjects covered
in most prep and junior schools.
We firmly believe a holistic
education gives our pupils life
skills as well as knowledge.
