Preschool
Preschool leaders have worked hard to source funding for a fenced,
outdoor play area. The work was completed before the children
returned from the Christmas break, and it is already being well-used.
Both children and their parents are delighted with this welcome facility,
so congratulations to the Preschool leaders.
Highways
The pot-hole on Frogge Lane has been poorly repaired. Hautbois Road
will not be gritted despite our frequent requests - two accidents had
occurred within two days during December. Highways has also
confirmed that it has no plans to consider a 30mph speed limit on the
Hautbois Road. Vehicles are using the right hand road around the grass
triangle on the Frogge Lane/Hautbois Road in spite of the sign, and
coupled with speeding vehicles on Hautbois Road this is a potential
accident site.. The white lines in High Street and near the Post Office
have faded, so Highways will be asked to renew them.
Phone mast
Councillors had discussed this proposal following the public consultation,
and agreed to continue with the scheme. Planning consent has been
given by Broadland DC. Solicitors are preparing the necessary
documents which will be studied before they are signed.
Taking School Children to sing at 16 locations in the
Community
On Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th December,
Broadlands Rotary Club provided a minibus and
driver for 12 pupils from St. John's Community Primary
School at Hoveton and their teacher, Ann Roberts, to
sing at different locations within the community. These
included local care homes for the elderly, the Doctors
Surgery in Wroxham and several private homes where
householders, friends and family were able to hear them
perform favourite Christmas songs and carols.
The Children singing at our Rotary Club Christmas Lunch
At lunchtime on Thursday the students came to our
Rotary Club meeting to entertain the club members at
their Christmas lunch. On Thursday Mrs Quinn, the Head
Teacher also accompanied the students to hear them
perform.
Is there an I.T.-savvy person out there who could help the Parish Council
with a Facebook page please? We would like to promote the work of the
Council to our village, and especially to younger people who may not
know what we do. If you can help, please call the clerk Barbara Elvy on
