Wroxham Football Club Trafford Park, Skinners Lane, Wroxham… Happy New Year to everyone. Wroxham FC was formed in 1892 by Mr GE Preston of Beeston Hall. So, 2017 will be our 125 th year anniversary. There can’t be many clubs in the county who have such a long record behind them. We would like to celebrate this achievement and if any readers can help in any way, please contact Secretary Chris Green on 783936 or email secretary@wroxhamFC.com The 1 st team are not yet doomed to relegation despite effectively being 21 points from safety with little over 15 games left to play. It’s a big challenge but hopefully if we can put a few results together over the next month or so, we can get another great escape. Every game looks like being a “cup tie”! We must still play Brentwood (Away 7 th Feb) and Waltham Abbey (Home 11 th Feb) who look to be the most likely candidates to be involved in the relegation battle with us and Great Wakering. We have games in hand over all three teams, so win those and things could look much healthier. The reserves have reached the halfway stage but had a short Xmas break and returned to action with a 5-nil defeat at Mulbarton. Clearly too much Xmas cheer for some of our young players. But hopefully they will soon return to winning ways continuing to challenge for a high position finish in the Anglian Combination. No problems for the U18’s who got a good win away to Yarmouth in their first game of 2017 and are in 2 nd place in the East Division of the Thurlow Nunn Youth League. After being without a 1 st team shirt sponsor, Dynamic Group an employment agency has agreed to have their names on the shirts for the remainder of this season. Regency Security Group are also sponsoring rain jackets and tracksuits for the reserves. We are extremely grateful for the support of both companies. On Sat Feb 25 th we are holding a Race Night sponsored by Iconic Estate Agents and we also thank them and owner Chris Hall who now lives in Wroxham. Full details in poster below. These are usually good fun, so do come along. Full details of all club news is on our web site www.wroxhamfc.com or via Twitter @the_yachtsmen To book the clubhouse for an event please Tel 01603 783538/783936 or emailsecretary@wroxhamfc.com Wroxham Flower Club generally meets on the second Wednesday in the month at 7.30pm at The Church Hall, Wroxham. osemary Howell Refreshments follow the demonstration including excellent cakes. New members and visitors are very welcome. The meeting is on the February 8th when we have Brenda Tubb demonstrating arrangements entitled, “Another Fine Mess”, on 8th March Joanne Randall’s theme will be “Raindrops on Roses” and on 12th April there will be a workshop for those who want to “have a go”. There are many trials and potential new treatments for the condition which are hoped to slow down the course of the disease. Research studies ,technology research. General well being advice and support Eileen Cooper Eileen Cooper passed away at home in Rectory Road, Horstead at the age of ninety nine. Her Son Harry and family would like to thank Coltishall Surgery, Coltishall Pharmacy, the District Nurses and her carers for their help. Thanks also to Reverend Engelson, Broadland Funeral Service and the staff at the Recruiting Sergeant. The ongoing support of family friends is very much appreciated as was the attendance by so many at Eileen’s funeral. The Coman Family As you may know I read the Marlpit every month seeing what's going on, I did notice a while back that person was looking into their family tree "the Coman family well if they still read the Marlpit I can say that they are related to the Wells family as I am also, it would seem that a Florence Mary Coman married a certain Ralph Wells on Feb21 1932 now from that can any of your readers know of a Matilda Spalding of that same year 1932 or of a Margaret Rushmen from the wedding of Claude Wells to Margaret Youngs on May 21 1934 did the two women live in Coltishall or still live there but I think that it's too long ago for them to be still alive but someone could remember them, may be they worked at the Old Hall Coltishall Samaritans Purse On behalf of the Samaritans Purse, Sue Edmonson and Jill Blackburn, we would like to thank all those good people who made up Christmas Shoe Boxes this year. The children will have a pleasant surprise. This year we collected over 60 boxes, combined with the units in Dereham and Norwich, 9100 have been sent altogether. Our dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2014. He had shown some symptoms of shuffling gait and tremor for quite some time before he felt the need to approach the doctor for a diagnosis as he is very much of a man by nature who tries to cope and just carry on with as little fuss as possible. He has always been a proud, caring, independent man who stands at the head of our family so we realised the importance of ensuring these facts continue to define him not the label of a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease .He is and always has been the best dad any daughters could wish for and we want to show him how much we love, respect and support him in every challenge that life sends his way . Parkinson's uk support and research charity is totally dependent on donation, it offers one to one support and information to people with Parkinson's, their families and carers. ,surveys and audits, drug trials volunteer support networks and groups with on-line discussion forums, information publications ,help line and local advisors to name just a few of the outstanding work that is provided to support families just like ours. My sister and I used the traditional boxing day North Norfolk coastline sea dip as our plunge for Parkinson's to shout out to our dad to show how much we love him, while we raised awareness of Parkinson's and raised funds to support the continuation of all the great work behind this condition and to say dad we are so proud of you for the way you continue to face adversity everyday with your determination and positive nature, you are an inspiration. He battles to maintain his independence and this past year has been amazing in his support to our mum who has had her own health challenges to face . To date we have raised the sum of £300.00 from our generous sponsors to which we would like to say a heart felt thank you . 11
