RPM DETAILS 

The RPM’s Open-C Canopy is a proven shape that has spawned an entire category of kites. For general

FUEL BRIDLE CONFIGURATION 

The RPM features Slingshot’s unique shock absorbing IRS bridle system. This pulleyless, direct-connect bridle 

incorporates bungee lines that flex and retract to keep proper tension in the lines as you steer the kite. Slingshot 

introduced this bridle concept in 2015 and have nothing but positive feedback about the responsive steering and

RALLY DETAILS 

Slingshot has reworked and refined the Rally over the years to polish the kite into what it is today. In 

2016 we made some slight adjustments to the geometry and bridles to increase handling and steering 

speed. Those changes were very well received, so we’ve carried them over for 2017 and have added a 

couple other subtle modifications. For sizes 8, 9 and 10 we’ve made very subtle changes in geometry 

and strut diameter to clean up the canopy ever so slightly. Trailing edge tension is now controlled 

with the addition of Teijin T2 Polyester rip stop canopy material. This decreases trailing edge flutter 

and increases durability. We reinforced the one-pump inflation valve’s connection to the bladder to 

help prevent blowouts caused by improper hose attachment/detachment. Finally, we added two Kevlar 

patches to prevent bridle rub on the trailing edges.

WAVE SST CHARACTERISTICS 

When we introduced the WAVE SST last year, we received immediate and overwhelmingly positive 

feedback from advanced kite surfers around the world. The WAVE SST is amazing, people said, it 

tracks magically downwind, turns on a dime and maintains a responsive feel even when fully sheeted 

out. These are the most sought-after characteristics of a surf-specific kite, and the 2017 WAVE SST is 

packed with the same great features that made it an instant hit. After a year in the market, we also 

discovered foilers were gravitating to this kite for freeriding. Performance traits found in a good wave 

kite are also sought out by people who know freeride foiling. For 2017 we’re releasing more sizes to 

include a full range (4-10 meter and 12 meter) so kiters can set themselves up with the perfect quiver.

WAVE SST DETAILS 

The WAVE SST features a Compact-C canopy profile and a condensed version of Slingshot’s popular shockabsorbing 

IRS bridle system. The combination of canopy geometry and bridle configuration results in a kite 

that flies deep in the window, in the sweet spot for surf-specific performance. Two main features that make 

the WAVE SST such an amazing surf kite are: How well it drifts downwind and how quickly it can pivot even 

when you’re depowered, sheeted out or moving toward the kite. These characteristics also make the WAVE 

an ideal kite for foiling. The WAVE SST is extremely robust, taking Slingshot’s bomber surf-tough standards 

a step farther, with a special Surf Grid panel layout that adds strength and durability to the canopy, and a 

condensed bridle setup. Trailing edge tension is now controlled with the addition of Teijin T2 Polyester ripstop

An exciting new addition to Slingshot’s 2017 lineup, the Turbine is now available in a full range 

of sizes. The Turbine has been Slingshot’s widely successful light-wind kite for years thanks to 

its super-efficient high-aspect Delta-C profile. When carried over to smaller sizes, that highaspect 

ratio translates to a super-efficient, high-end performance that has been described by 

Slingshot designer Tony Logosz as “a Rally on steroids.”

NEW FOR 2017 — 20” BAR X 20 M LINES W/ 3-METER LINE EXTENSIONS: 

The 2017 Compstick comes in 17, 20 and 23-inch bar options. The 17-inch bar comes stock with 20 meter lines and 

is recommended only for small kites (usually 4-7meters). The 23-inch bar comes stock with 27 meter lines and is 

recommended for larger kites (usually 13-17meters). New for 2017, our universal 20-inch bar, which can be used 

with any kite we produce, will now come with 20-meter lines installed and 3-meter extensions in the box. This 

gives riders the ability to choose between two different line lengths. For easier launching, faster turning and more 

responsive handling, the 20-meter lines are ideal, while the extensions will provide added power, low-end range 

and higher jumping.

The 2017 Compstick comes in 17, 20 and 23-inch bar options. The 17-inch bar comes stock with 20 meter lines and is

inventing new carbon-reinforced inserts. In testing, our team riders 

quickly noticed how solid the inserts are, hence the name Bedrock 

Carbon Inserts. 

The new inserts are a Slingshot exclusive and are designed to offer 

you a solid connection to a board that still needs to flex. They use the 

industry-standard M6 hardware and are reinforced with light-weight,

BEDROCK CARBON INSERTS 

In 2017 you will notice lighter boards, a more continuous flex pattern and performance that is tuned precisely for 

each board’s design concept. You asked for weight reduction, better flex control and increased feel. You got it. Our 

engineers accomplished this by inventing new carbon-reinforced inserts, which will replace the Fastrack system 

on all 2017 boards. In testing, our team riders quickly noticed how solid the inserts are, hence the name Bedrock 


The new inserts are a Slingshot exclusive and are designed to offer you a solid connection to a board that still 

needs to flex. They use the industry-standard M6 hardware and are reinforced with light-weight, high-strength 

carbon fiber. With this development, our engineers were able to define a new level of performance and durability 

in twin tip construction. The insert pull strength is increased by 30%, while the overall board weight is cut by 10%.

Cousin to the Tyrant but with a progressive snub-nose shape to reduce front-end size and weight, the 

Screamer is a playful and agile board that will appeal to riders of all disciplines. Its pulled-in thumb tail 

and three-fin setup provide solid all-around performance and control at speed for traditional wave riding, 

while its shorter length and unique T-Rex nose profile makes strapless airs, tricks and strapped-in boosting 

considerably easier than with longer, more traditional shapes. The Screamer is offered in 5’2”, 5’4” and 5’6” 

lengths and features a parallel rail outline and single-concave rocker. This makes for a compact and highly

BALLISTIC HANRESS CHARACTERISTICS 

We’ve completely overhauled the Ballistic Harness’s waist belt and spreader bar setup for 2016, making this 

the most secure, comfortable and refined harness we have ever produced. 

Most notably, for added comfort we’ve made considerable upgrades to the spreader bar pad, which now 

features a cushy high-density molded EVA foam. The bar and pad are integrated into one streamline piece 

and are secured by a new four-point webbing system, which holds the bar firmly in place and prevents it from 

riding up, causing discomfort and possible rib injury. We’ve reworked the closure to a simple clip-in system 

that slides into a slot in the spreader bar. Simply click in, tighten and ride, then pull on the red tab to click 

back out. The body of the harness features a super durable outer and cushy interior with a 3-D thermoform 

cushion layout designed for ergonomic fit and superior back support. Fiberglass battens are integrated into 

the body of the harness to provide added support and structure in needed load zones. A cushy foam edge
