What?<br />
The HPU – (Hybrid Power Unit) is a High Efficiency<br />
Energy System designed to power telecom sites at very<br />
low OPEX; 68% Fuel Savings can be achieved<br />
compared to a traditional Diesel Generator.<br />
How?<br />
In the case of OFF GRID a 68% fuel reduction is guaranteed by<br />
an efficient variable speed DC GenSet and by the application of<br />
an integrated Energy Storage system with Deep Cycle Batteries;<br />
The DC GenSet runs only few hours per day to power the Cell<br />
Site load and meanwhile store the eccess of generated power

WORKING PRINCIPLE<br />
OPEX REDUCTION<br />
The Hybrid Power Unit is based on an integrated Hybrid Logic that Centralises, via the <strong>Ascot</strong> controller, the<br />
management of all the components including any external renewable energy source providing the best<br />
efficiencies in terms of savings.<br />
To ensure the maximum reliability and redundancy the “ Load” is in parallel with the DC GenSet and Deep<br />
Cycle Batteries, this guarantees the continuity of power to the LAOD as NO ATS is required.<br />
The system is capable of automatically detecting abnormal battery conditions, or disconnected and<br />
in such cases the DC GenSet will automatically starts and supply the load until the fault is rectified.<br />

New technologies at Cell Towers do not require<br />
shelters any more or air condition with high pick loads<br />
and they can be installed in open environment at very<br />
high temperatures; in most of the cases they do not<br />
require more than 2 KW DC.<br />
Powering such small loads with a traditional<br />
Diesel Generator working 24/7, leads to a drastic<br />
reduction of the engine life and associated high fuel<br />
consumption & maintenance costs.<br />
An alternative solution based only in PV Solar +<br />
Battery System will not guarantee the continuity and<br />
the reliability of the site as it is at the mercy of<br />
atmospheric events.<br />
